Knee to Board to Hospital

Post by The Gman »

After my close encounter with the nose (I think) of my board I want to thank everyone on the beach at Nitinat for looking out for me. What turned out to be not so bad could have been a lot worse I guess. Went down pretty hard going into a jibe on the beach side during one of the powered up rips on Sat. Got to the beach for a breather and saw into the tendon and bone below my right knee. It barely bled but Jen (nurse) patched me up enough to make it into Alberni for 12 stiches (4 in, 8 out). Thanks Casey sevens & Bobson for making the trek out with me during prime beer time. Bobson, I owe you some more beers to make up for the gas!
All turned out well and we made it back to the beach for beers and dinner at around 1030. A little stiff today but I guess sitting in the ferry line up in Nanaimo for almost 5 hours didn't help. To top the weekends' off water adventure I got caught about 15 cars behind a nasty head-on collision at the apex of Lions gate bridge (everyone looked ok). Not really my weekend. The sailing was great though. Be back soon.
