Was thinking of heading down to La Ventana in March, does anyone know when the season ends down there for windsurfing?

I am heading down to La Ventana on March 15th to Kite and I am staying at Bajajoes. Apparently the season lasts till the end of March.

For those of you who have done La Ventana for a whole winter, how much does a person (couple I should say) have to budget? What is the lifestyle like? I've done lots of reading online, but I'd like a local perspective.

We are planning ahead, hopefully to try something radical/different this fall/winter as opposed to the daily 9-5.

Good choice Tony! $10 a day still for camping I think. RVing is my favorite way to get down and staying in the campground is my preference. Others may recommend different alternatives. Food can be as cheap or expensive as you want. Lots of fresh seafood, veggies, drinking water and even baked goods all come right to the camp. Lots of good restaurants to choose from too. Fuel to get there and back depends what your RV will be for the trip. Budget at least $2,500. Travel medical insurance and auto insurance $400-500. We spent close to $8000 for our trip to Barbados last year for 2 weeks. I'm sure that would have been enough for at least 4 months in the campground with an RV.

I've been down twice once for 8 weeks the other time for 4-5 weeks. I stayed in the "Free" arroyo which is as the name implies is free. My budget once I was there was just food & beer. I spent about $25/day in total, but I wasn't trying to conserve. I ate 1 meal a day at a restaurant and usually drank a fair number of beers.

We usually spend around 2000 a month but that is all in: insurance, flights gas, food, dog stuff (more this last year thanks to air Canada), etc. You can live very simply there or ... Rent a house a pay a bundle. We have a trailer, use solar power and propane for fridge, stove and hot water. The camp ground is $10 a day and has toilets and showers ( no hot water tho chilly after sailing). You need to buy water daily for 5 gallons about a buck in our money. Propane is about $30 for a 70 ponder lasts us about 5 weeks. The veggie guy comes twice a week, water guy daily, fish guy very Thursday although you can buy daily from just out side the camp ground. Oscarita's in El Sargento has a good supply of groceries locally Pablo's has some stuff. You get creative with meals. If you don't have refrigeration more creative lol. .....
