Holiday Huckfest!

Post by ~~~~~4j~~ »

I think it is about time we tried to organize a CB Expression Session / Winter Wavefest / Loop Contest --- you get the idea --- in the period from just before Christmas to just after New Year's.

I mentioned this a while back in the Looping Thread. Then I was thinking of some sort of informal loop contest to push us newbie forward loopers. But how about we broaden the idea to an "Expression Session" to encourage all tricks (both Windsurf and Kiteboard)?

Of course this kind of thing is difficult to plan far in advance, but the model is looking good for some SE wind over the holidays! Basically I'm thinking we could designate (with a day or two notice) a defined time period on a good CB day where we could concentrate the stoke and push ourselves to do our best tricks or try something new.

"Winners" could simply be awarded bragging rights for categories such as "best move", "best forward", "best/worst crash", "highest kiteboard jump", etc.

T and I will try to take lots of photos, so hopefully we'll catch a good one of you! Other photographers and videographers will be very welcome!

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to bring the family and visitors for some great entertainment (just make sure they dress warmly and bring snacks and hot beverages!)

Anyhoo, post here if you like this idea or have any suggestions to add. I know that scheduling things between holiday commitments and weather is difficult (not to mention the herd of cats that we are) but maybe, just maybe, we could make this work and have an amazing event.

Dec. 26 looks good in the long-range forecast.... :D

That's pretty serious motivation for Dunkinguy to take the comp! Kinda like Scooby-doo and Scooby Snacks.

I'm in.

Yah, tomorrow looks good. How about we judge interest at the beach and then decide? Maybe tentatively ROUND1 tomorrow and ROUND2 on Monday? At least let's use tomorrow as a warm up!

- If you have an airhorn and/or a flag, please bring it (for start/end of the "heats").
- we can cobble together an organizational comittee and some "judges" at the beach and then decide on a time and other details.

Any other ideas? Volunteers? This is very informal. PM me or post here.

Ooh I have to ask my mom to bake some cookies.
