Thanks to the Van & Islander contingent and great locals during my recent pistol/cape and gorge trip, nice to sail with you on what might have been my last coast trip....at least for a long while.... but you never know tho, right? Might get another few days in Flo this summer but will not forget that cape/pistol double header day, wow, so great

Cheers and good winds/waves for those that are still down there :D
Wish less, sail more!!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to say adios to the South crew before heading North. So much for the great forecast yesterday and today, maybe a miracle will appear! C36, thx for all of the awesome photo work; pls PM your address and I'll send your stick back to you. 8) Hoping for a surf/sail with Keen and BWD before heading back.

Turned into the BWD suntaning camp.

I headed north with hopes of heading back to the gorge, but even that looks bleak, hanging out in Florence for a few days, may drive the coast hi way just to check mazanita and a few of the north spots if nothing happens.

Thurs (July 1) saw high heat in the valley which held the wind offshore teasing the whole day. Udder, FOLO, Johnnyman and myself took a late afternoon wave-SUP at the Cape, but it was a roly-poly stew that made just standing on your SUP challenging and catching rides even harder. Click here to view some pictures from the ‘rest’ day.

Friday (July 2) we took no chances and headed north to Bandon to avoid the `high-heat-shut-down`. It worked – we were treated to a very pleasant afternoon of sunshine, wind and giant sluffing waves! Face Rock was in a gentler mood than last week and set up like a blend of the Cape (clean waves and DTL action) and the Rock (jumping and big swell outside).

just cracking my last long hammer IPA and reflecting on a great trip! didn't blow quite as expected but in the end it didn't matter, i ended up surfing and exploring a bunch of new spots and experiencing some fine and unique dining and camping opportunities. plus we had some tasty jams and killed the Fireball. so pretty much a big win all around. 8) :D

ditto what winddoc said on the fast departure and the great picture logs of C36.
was great to hang with everyone for a bit and meet a few new people.
hopefully next year will pan out a bit better for wind and there will be some new flavours of burritos and DQ blizzards to choose from.

Great to meet a few sailors new to me, and also great to see those who I had met in previous years in good health, as well as at least one for whom I am responsible for developing a different appreciation for lime use! Third trip in total for myself to the Oregon Coast, likely about day 8 in total for in the water, witnessed some progress for myself. Thanks to the Pacific O for the user friendly conditions, and a HUGE thanks to those of you who got my behind moving to get on it! And ahem, learned some, 'oh and by the way did you realize this is good etiquette on the water' - keep it coming. Thanks everyone, keep charging.

Looks like this years early season heat meant our timing was a bit tardy. Anyone thinking of chancing a round 2 later on this summer?
