LongBeach Wick Parking/Access Closures

Post by KUS »

Annoying construction delays continuing, here's the lastest update of these closures since October.....and they don't really think this is a problem cuz hey you can park other places and then....just walk there in a 2!! minutes....

Anyway, dates estimated!! to complete (like early spring was the estimate to complete all) :

Incinerator parking lot: closed, end of June!!!!!  :x
North LB: closed, mid May .... cuz you know you can use South....when it's not overflowing full  :x
Wick: early May
Rainforest: early May

if nobody complains....they don't think this is ANY problem at ALL   CALL THEM!!

Before you let your blood boil over this consider how hopeless intervention likely is. They blocked Wick road effectively closing the best surfing beach and closest beach to Ucluelet for something like 6-8 months? You can imagine the barrage of complaints after forcing everyone to drive an additional 15-25 minutes each way to surf, yet nothing changed and the road remained closed.

I hear you Tony about saving your energy...however: Apathy in Canada is amazingly widespread...everybody whines but is unwilling to do anything about it...even if it's registering their voice/vote in a letter/email or phone call ....no wonder the Feds push everyone around! Qualicum airport helicopter training on weekends, closing probably the most used beaches on the west coast for a washroom construction (ever heard of fast tracking, night work? Making early delivery a bid item? Why do the work concurrently? You can build a 10 story high rise in 8 months, you are replacing a washroom fer crying out loud...!!), twinning pipelines for the Chinese energy board, apologizing to First Nations one day and ignoring them the next...does anyone in this entire country have a spine? maybe Elizabeth May or some of the protesters that aren't there for a photo op  I voted for our current two faced sob PM, won't be repeating that mistake...too bad Layton had to pass...a man of character

This from someone who has lived in Tofino and surfed there for over 40 years. Government / Parks INACTION is legendary.

You have got to realize this is a "guberment wotka" project. The worst part is that the project is costing over 3 million, for a few shitters. The surf contest is scheduled for Wick beach soon. They will only have half the parking capacity available. At Lovekin 60% closed. Been that way since fall. At Incinerator the whole lot is closed for construction. It's been that way since fall. The construction is a gong show. They could easily open 2/3 of it as most days all they have are a few pickups parked and their construction hut.....No effort here..."guberment parkies", why should they care.

if you summed up this and sent a letter to Parks Canada....advising also that you are....disabled ....perhaps.....and now have NO access to the sandy beach for viewing.....you might actually have someone notice..
