April 2018, Parksville Kitesurf Education

Post by roam »

Hello,
I am new to kitesurfing. I have done a bit of it in Kailua Hawaii and nothing here. I was wondering if there are any people here that would be interested in giving some guidance and share some local knowledge.
Thanks!

welcome!! San Pareil is your best bet to start with in Parskville.

Columbia has some nasty locals.. mostly sea creatures though!

come summer time Nitinat is amazing and Nimpkish is great!

Lots of people on here will help you out. First thing to do, check the sailing guide

Columbia Beach and San Pareil are your closest spots. Nitinat summer spot. Or China Creek, near Port Alberni (read canal beach info).

Kiteboarding safety is a good one too http://www.bigwavedave.ca/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2072

I’m a rank amateur at this sport, but I can maybe help you out some. I’ve been all over the island checking things out. This site is awesome for help and information. PM me if you like, I’m off all week and could maybe show you some of the friendlier spots to try or give you a hand launching and landing if we get any wind.
