Windfest 2018! July 27-29

Post by skywalker »

Celebrating (at least) 16 years, Windfest is back for 2018

This is a 100% volunteer run grass roots festival celebrating the wind at Nitinat Lake. Thank you to the Ditidaht First Nation for allowing us to hold the event on their territory.

Now we need YOU! We need 60 people to register to keep the lights on each year, so if you want Windfest to continue please sign up. http://windfest.ca/registration/

Updates for this year:
All event apparel is 100% made in Canada by Anian and designed by Alicia la Rue

It is a family event, so please keep the partying out of the camp site, and on the beach. Pick up all your trash, we will have lots of trash cans/ recycling on site. Respect the fire ban if there is one.

We are pleased to present the following FREE live music acts this year

- The Leg Up Program- a 17 piece ska
- Dug Nugget - homegrown bluegrass
- The Phatphunks - an 8 piece ska/ funk
- The Lost Bouys- a west coast rock/ reggae
- Nesan Furtado – Ocean Rodeo’s house DJ

We could not put on Windfest without these sponsors. Registrations only pay for 30% (!!) of the cost of the event. That means 70% of the cost is paid for by these beautiful companies. Please support them in return.

-Ocean Rodeo
-Vancouver Island Brewing
-Golden Rule Roofing
-Cowichan Valley Electoral Area F
-Core Kiteboarding Canada
-Elevation Kiteboarding
- Strong Kiteboarding

Ned, I am a total kook kiter, but plan to register at the event if I am at the lake that weekend.

The fact that I would enter should let others know there is room for some fun, not-competitive, competition.

Cheers

On behalf of Tony, Luke, Adrian, Brenno G-Rule, myself, and the countless others helping with Windfest, thanks to all who came and supported us again this year. It was, I think, undeniably the best one yet!
