Propane Firepit accidentally taken at Nitnat from campsite

Post by brady.doland »

Hi everyone just got back from Nitnat June 30-July2nd and had a blast. Everyone was so kind and helpful up there. Unfortunetly though when we were moving campsites we made two trips in our truck we left our propane firepit behind for the 2nd load. When we returned the firepit had disappeared. Our campsite neighbour Peter Barang (great guy) had left as well and we assumed that he took it back to Victoria to return to us. I gave him a call and said he left it up there and that a nice fellow who is originally from Ontario and is an electrician took it (which I would have done the same if someone left it behind).
I am wondering if anyone knows the name number of this electrician. It was my gf and I first big purchase together and would love to have it back.
Thanks everyone for the great times up there!

I am from Victoria and my cell is 403-869-9073 if anyone has an clues on how to reach this guy!

Come on Gene, those rules are for rednecks not responsible wind riders below the high tide mark.

Fyi. Camped this weekend at birkenhead provincial park and they will rent you a propane firepit to use. 14 per night and have an exchange tank program. Flame limited to 15cm high(and they were checking height...).
FSR sites may be different.

There is a contradiction in their rules...

Here they say:

" This prohibition does not apply to CSA-rated or ULC-rated cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus that uses briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, so long as the height of the flame is less than 15 centimetres. "

Taken from:
http://bcwildfire.ca/hprScripts/Wildfir ... A2389_More

(I think though they are just talking about the coastal area, or "fog zone" area, but not 100% sure.)

But here they say the opposite:

This restriction does apply to open flame campfire apparatus (i.e. propane campfires, etc).

Taken from:
http://bcwildfire.ca/hprScripts/Wildfir ... mpfireBans

And their general explanation/restriction on stoves (heating or cooking), camp fire, and portable apparatus:
http://bcwildfire.ca/Restrictions/StovesCampfires.pdf
Which is more general, not mentioning our case right now, like they do above.
