Discover Ocean Connect – A New Resource for Vancouver Island's Ocean Conditions

Post by mbrown »

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to introduce you to Ocean Connect! Our new website (brought to you by the Hakai Institute) is a valuable resource for staying updated on ocean conditions. We've harnessed high-resolution data for this specific region, ensuring more accuracy compared to some of the commonly used alternative sites (although bigwavedave does an excellent job for wind enthusiasts). Our wave model operates at a 2km resolution, in contrast to Windy's 13k resolution, and we've received great feedback from surfers in both the South Island and Tofino.

We invite you to explore Ocean Connect by visiting our website at

https://oceanconnect.ca

Your feedback is important to us, and you can conveniently share your thoughts through the feedback link provided on the site.

Cheers

Mat

Lots of good info there! Is there any sort of API to get the wave, current and wind info for a
Time, Latitude, Longitude ?

Thanks
Dave

Thanks! We'd don't make the data available via api. Our purpose is to present the data in way users can easily digest :) We do have a data sources page though https://oceanconnect.ca/docs/data_sources/
