Post by LiViTY Outernational »

On March 14th, 2007 filmmaker and biologist Rob Stewart will be in Victoria for a special screening of his new film SHARKWATER. LiViTY Outernational and Sharkwater Productions would like to invite you to the after-party at The Red Jacket (751 View St.) at 8pm where Stewart will present new HD underwater footage and ‘The Making of Sharkwater’. Please join us for this evening of positive activism! Admission is by donation & proceeds go to help fund the conservation efforts of The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Sharkwater is a multi award-winning high definition feature film that brings viewers closer to sharks than ever before. In an epic visual display Sharkwater brings ocean conservation into the spotlight.

Filmed in 15 countries over 4 years, Sharkwater has thrilled audiences at top film festivals across the globe. Sharkwater has won 10 prestigious awards, making it the most award-winning documentary to hit theaters this year! Awards include numerous People’s Choice awards, Best Documentary awards as well as the Toronto Film Festival award: Canada’s Top Ten!

In a journey through the shark-rich waters of the world, Sharkwater demonstrates a relationship with sharks that, until now, was left undefined. This incredible true story follows filmmaker and biologist Rob Stewart through espionage, corrupt governments, mafia rings, arrests, and hospitalization in his fight to reveal the truth about sharks and the vital importance of saving our oceans.

Sharkwater will be released on March 23rd, and in the US in the Fall of 2007. Please join us in saving the oceans. See Sharkwater in theaters starting March 23rd.

I went to the screening last night at the Odeon. Fantastic film with great photography! It is amazing what was uncovered in Costa Rica by these guys. There is some video footage of Rob Stewart holding a 7 ft shark and petting it for a couple minutes. Some serious battle footage between the conservationists enforcing international fishing laws and fishermen harvesting sharks just for their fins. A must see film, I am glad that someone is finally exposing what is happening to sharks, whales have long been in the public eye.
