A Long Beach roadtrip

Post by LeeL »

Every year some friends of mine get out to Long Beach to go surfing. Every year, despite the fact they book a place to stay in November, they have good weather. This was no exception.

My brother and I made the trek out from Vancouver and were there for three and a half days. We had good weather every day, smallish surf on a couple of days and a nice set of swell on one day.

We stayed at the Brickhouse; just a one minute walk from Chestermans.

Group shot - L to R - John, Naomi, Lindsey, Simon, Steve, Maria, me, Chai, Steph, Al, Julia, Dave and Tobin Image

Some artsy shots of the Brickhouse in the full moon

I took some shots of Long Beach itself in the full moon

Surfing takes energy. Cinnamon Buns from the Common Loaf with healthy amounts of butter and good coffee provide that energy

Image

Waves put out energy (Chai and Steve)

Image

Steve finds that wave's energy

Image

Then soulful Steve harnesses the wave

I'm an indifferent surfer. In waves this size I prefer to be in a kayak. Since neither my brother nor any of my friends got any decent pictures of me you'll just have to visualize this kayaker and pretend that I am him (but of course, twice as gnarcore)

Al also got out for a paddle - this taken on a late day session in Rosie Bay in some lovely light but not so lovely smallish waves

Chai in Rosie Bay in the same light

Maybe its because he's been punishing waves

Good weekend, good weather, good friends and good times.

What’s up with the dinosaur humping/orgy going on the table, while the pervy brontosaurus is looking at them???

(the picture you are wondering about Dave)

Which one is most difficult in the wave, surf board or kayak?

my son wont go anywhere without the dinosaur menagerie. that orgy is just evolution going on i guess. a surfboard is far more difficult than a kayak.. unless your board is a yacht like starboard steve's.
