Picked up my new Custom Board at Open Ocean ( Sweet!!) and headed over to Doug's Beach. 3pm lots of people on the beach and about 10 sailors on the water. Guys bigger than me were on 3.0's and getting tail walked. I rigged my 4.0 as flat as I could and slid my new ride into the water. There were some huge ramps that I never got to turn on because I was in the air flying over them.. In between gusts it was sweet but you really had to sit in it when the gusts came. Love the new ride and can't wait for ... (more)

Exactly 2 months since my last sail, May 12, felt like it was just yesterday.

Nice kooky day on the water with a crazy flood all afternoon. Not much left in the tank when I had to pack up and go to work, looks like I hit it about right. Love that mermaid for days like this.

Logo sized waves at the Lighthouse. Pretty much no wind there though so would have had to SUP 'em. 2 footers peeling on the beach. Started out on the 5.3 but then became overpowered. Logo sized swell just off the Lighthouse on the outside was nice. Went in to rig down which was a mistake. It didn't do its usual 11 am thing. Couple of ok runs on the 4.7 and then back to the 5.3. Gusty but fun, more westerly. Would have been the best day ever if there had been wind where the waves were  Ca ... (more)

Session two. Got back from the swimming lessons/pool/burrito with my daughter. Rigged up for Yana and I to work on her waterstarts and get her comfy on the water. Looked like it was dieing down, not. She was mostly near shore though, so the 6.4 worked fine with our 133L carve. She got her first waterstart no problem, but then got tired out there in the waves.... Took the 6.4 out with the 120L at the end of the session for a few runs but hardly hanging on by then. Three hours of sailing. Four trips up and do ... (more)

Session one. Talk about a perfect morning. Solo in the Strait, perfect wind, ramps everywhere, sunshine, the beach appearing as the tide dropped. Could not ask for more... except maybe my 88L board. For some reason I went slightly higher volume but smaller fin, thinking it would help ride out the lulls. What lulls.... 8) 8) 8)

Super duper fun times. Skate park mini-ramps. At one point I think I caught 4.852 seconds of air, it's not 5, but hey it's soo close. Keen and I played slog chicken at one point, both pinching upwind but I just edged him out, collision averted, yeeaah! Plenty of sail Tuct tape added extra style to my sailing and netted me half the gybes on the inside, that's a first. At this rate my fin gashed foot will never heal!!!

    Afterwork session. 8) 8) 8) Nice.

There was a ton of west in the NW but with the current at a lull, all was good. Lots of good little ramps all over the place and some weird wave zones that created some cool obstacles. The weeds are gone thank god and once out of the huge wind shadow, all was rock and roll.

Coming in was a beeaaach and some time was spent under self propulsion through the lulls. The 133 would have got me through but would have been a bit big outside. -all and all a great ... (more)

Fun day in spite of gusty holey wind and messy chop at times. There was a period in the middle of the afternoon when there were some shoulder high ramps close to shore that were great for jumps and rides. Then the wind got flukier and the chop got worse later on. Nice and warm tho. 8)

Nuketastic gorge at its finest. An excellent session before the coast, which would have been perfect if I hadn't (drunk on adrenalin) done a downwinder on a slightly UP'd 2.9..... After a short walk in the weeds, back out for more endurance sailing. Jumps were rather easy to do, staying on the water, not so much... Excellent - headed to Flo now....

Gusty til late in the session when it filled in a bit. Bagged by that time. A couple of in and outs in the harness and planing jibes was a relief after all that slogging. Did find a couple of great rides so it was all worth while. Naked drunk on the beach, who also wandered down the middle of the Alberni highway, was the entertainment. Didn't take the Kona due to great forecast....mistake.

Early session on the 90L and 4.8 and then the wind came  Amazing what you can do with the right gear 8) Hit it hard with lots of stoke and had one of my best sessions ever. Fully lit to OP on a flat 4.2 and 72L. Liquid smoke blowing down the middle  Easy 3.7 most of the time.

The little JP sure knows what to do in big wind  Thanks again DB. Sweet board.

Lots of big jumps, table tops, swell rides and even managed to plane through a few jibes in 40+ gusts. Nailed a few tacks too. Swee ... (more)

Wow, never rigged a 4.0 before. It was nuking by 1:00 pm. Pretty scary when it was crankin' really big ramps near the beach. Getting high wind sailing dialed.

Went for a quick stokeless session due to a strained calf muscle from running this morning. Love the irony of getting injured doing some fitness training to help prevent me from injuring myself windsurfing. Wind was lightish at first, then it ramped up quickly after most guys had left. Leg was too sore to enjoy it. Tim, Robert, and a couple others got the best of it.

Students got too drunk last night so I got to kite today!!! 8)

9m repairs are holding up well! Just powered for the first hour while BK and I had played around unhooked for a while. Stomped my biggest F-16 to date(maybe overhead... ) but that got me super stoked   8) . Pushing the finger a little too far though...quite swollen. Not quite ready for unhooked yet. Took a break and the wind started to crank!

Lots of big airs and a couple of upwinders to knob point.

    Loving the lake!

Epic day at Nitinat today. The fog bank hovered just upwind most of the day. Really tired from yesterdays marathon and could only manage about 2.5 hrs. The swell near the shore was Gorge-like. Fun day to cap a great trip. Thanks to everyone for the great company.
