ok, on a positive note I got wet after a sweaty workday, caught the 1/2hr tail end of marginally entertaining ramps/wind and got to try the new board in mere farts later 8)
Forced two backies off 6" chop just to keep the stoke going. Shouldda kited at 1400 @IV :roll: but it was nice to see the Duncan contingent out :D

Brought only big stuff. It started off thermal, then turned nukin' as the sun left and the new weather system moved in. Had to move straps inboard and use a smaller 37cm fin on the huge JP board, was still OP'd for most of the time. Guys on 9M kites (rare for Harrison), sails were ranging from 5.0 - 7.5, board sizes from 90L to 150L. I had that poor Ezzy pulled down and out as far as it would go. Water was warm.

Moved campsite yesterday pm so rather than walk gear up the beach sailed it. (much more fun!) Started early with the big stuff fully powered great runs. Then moved on to the next size. Once on the 4.2 sailed on that very comfortably (compared to yesterday) for most of the time. Once again was able to waterstart Rocket Riders 2.5 with ease but above the point this time!

Fogbank burned off rapidly in am for another great 4.2 day. More gybes on port tack with increasing power out of them...... long way to go before I am planing out of them though. I really DO like waterstarting ..... hate to have to give that up! Getting everything turned around on starboard tack too ..... well, except my body......more waterstarts.....
finished off the day with a short Carve/5.3 session but the gear felt awfully big after sailing small all afternoon.

Haven't sailed Gordon's since Aug 06! I was pretty rusty today........and tired from 4 days at Nitinat. Fun session nonetheless in BIG conditions. This ain't Nitinat!
Cranked some big jumps with varying results - landed a few, spun out on most and crashed a couple. Jibes were pretty good on the inside but pretty useless outside.
Water was COLD :shock: My feet were basically frozen stumps, which made it awfully hard to feel my straps.
Fun times with the crew. Good to see everyone again :D :D

Big turnout for midweek, a dozen boards and a six-pack of kites or so. Bubble filled as I rigged so I could take the Evo instead of the Kona. Not a great sailing sesh, biggest prob the new boom kept slipping on the skinny even with the shim and clamping it so tight I could barely snap it. Wore my arms out early. Downhaul line snapped as I rigged, 2nd time I've used the extension :evil: Kept spinning out too, 2-3 times each way even with harness lines far enough back, at least the Evo is as happy going ... Quite the contrast in wind from yesterday!!! Found myself overpowered on the 4.2 a large portion of the day...yet too lazy and stubborn to derig and then rerig the 3.8. Will have to get another boom & mast! For rest breaks spent time helping Rocket Rider, master his waterstarts on the Fanatic and his 2.5 Sailworks Ripper. Just for fun tried to see if I could waterstart his 2.5 kids rig. Was able to do it even below the point!!!! Muy windy day!!! Tons of fun! :P

Missed out on the 4.2 wind but lucked out with a great camping site on arrival in the evening.
Felt perfectly tuned sailing big gear up to the river to see the only other person, on a red kite, on the lake. Loads of wind for the 5.9 but I had opted to rig big thinking that the wind would drop off since it was almost 7 pm. Watched the sun slip over the hills, watched the purple fogbank build, watched the crescent moon brighten overhead and the wind kept blowing!

Fished all morning then arrived about 3pm to savage hate. Rigged the 3.7 for Nicole and sent her out. Tail walking, slams etc. After twenty minutes of hate, D- girl came in and I took the 4.2 out. Could have easily been on the 3.7 for the first 30 minutes. Swells were large and wind was crazy strong. Chucked some big port fwds. Not the conditions we were hoping for but still nice to sail in warm sunshine. Highlight was trying my old 95l Screamer so Kristina could use the JP. I'd forgotten how fast it is and how forgiving in the light wind jibes.

Thought about packing it in after Sandra finished her session but after much arm twisting, I rigged big and went out in uninspiring conditions. Spent the next 2 hours ripping up the lake with just a handful of kites and a few windboards. Water starting sucked with such a big rig but it was fun to be so powered in super light conditions. Nice way to end the trip.
Had a great loooong weekend and met tons of great people. Good sailing, good parties, good food and good friends!! That's the magic of Nitinat : ... (more)

Today was tropical without the steady trades we've come to expect at the lake. First time in a long time, this year, that I haven't had the 4.6 out there. Lot's of work pumping on to a plane, good work out. Good to work on the low wind moves today. :( :wink:
