Another awesome session, although very choppy and gusty. Some impressive sailing out there, Markus scored some great waves off the reef and BigWaveDave was throwing some shovits and freestyle action on the inside. I saw at least one loop from Mike too. Going to have to force myself to practice loops soon, it is way too sweet an aerial to not have dialed.

Screamer day, just what Papa K ordered :P Hit C-lover for a few great waves, got a half dozen backies in, almost made one :D then mogul chop below the Pt was a blast, back up & things got flukey, breezier, not to mention crowded. Marathon, stop hogging the reef  some kiters pls review right of way/wave rules, eh  Ed, thx for the brew, bud, THAT hit the spot. JR would've ensured some air/safety spacing, missed you out there today :?

:D 9 Degrees with sunshine isn't so bad after all. Not exactly LaVentana warmth but thoroughly enjoyed my first session of the season at gordon's.

Perfect 12m Rise conditions. Took a bit to get used to wearing booties again but oh those pads on the new OR Zen 129 are comfy cushy! After 2 years on the Zen 135, I was very much used to it. New is not always better, but in this case it definitely is. The 2008 129x39 has the same low end, maybe slightly better even though it is shorter. Better "pop" ... (more)

Surprisingly steady & strong @1st, super beefy wind, looked light but was 4.7. Cold, glad I had the Prolimits on,last day for them looks like  Tried Kspot again w/ Mr W but no luck today, strong current off the Pt., sum lg standing waves. Played close to the beach w/Hoser on his spanking 5.0. Suddenly herd of kiters bounded down stairs, wind dropped, got holey/crappy. Tom showed & we slog planed for a bit, left early as bigger puffs persisted. Hattrick :D

Another solid session. Bit light on the outside but there was a consistent puff off the point. At the end, I was considering rigging down to a 5.0. The water was nice and flat in parts, great for vulcans. The spending spree continues, another 4.0 from Don to replace my old one. I now have a serious collection of 'older', 'slightly used' sails . . . for those who need awnings or spare battens.

Last day on Maui. Dialed in today, wind a little more side-offshore making for big gusts and bigger holes, but settign up perfect for down the line ripping and lip bashing. Caught some great rides today, but also got a good 10 minute pummeling in the impact zone, thankfully with no gear breakage....wow. Jumping not as good as other days as the Pit was usually in a wind shadow from the previous wave....often resultin in getting pummelled.

The bugger surfaced right in front with little room to move. Relived he headed under when he saw me bearing down or there would have been a collision  . Squeezed out the last of the daylight.

So nice to be able to sail after work now. Gusty wind and cold on the fingers. Went through 3 painful de-thaws. Nice swell at first, good ramps later on with steadier wind. Lots of people out.

Great to see the flowers on the stairs and fence for Johnny. Thought about him a lot during the session.

very nice afterwork present, johnny was out there with us all ! got a calf cramp and called it quitts after just a bit more than an hour, too much carvy carvy...nice though, to be on your toes like that, somehow when i don't sail for a while, my first session is like that, not thinking just doing sailing looser, better.

Solid session, although the wind was very gusty and shifty. It was very difficult to find a groove. There was quite a few flat sections for freestyling in between swells. Finally broke down and spent some money on windsurfing gear today and bought a new xcel 5-4-3 wetsuit. It is very nice to be warm. Found a panel in my 4.0 in shreds as well (far beyond tucktapeability), so looks like a new 4.0 is in order. This spending money on gear is a long slippery slope though . . . who knows, maybe I'll end up ... (more)

:D Two days in a row of awesome wind at Gordo's. Today was windier than Sunday, at least for the first couple of hours, and I almost rigged a 4.0 at first but decided to try the 4.7 instead and was very powered up. Later on it backed off to nice 4.7 wind with big swells way out and some tidal crap in the middle. Sailed Art's 'Freak 4.7 for over an hour and loved it (it's now in my quiver along with a 4.0 : ) ). Another humbling experience at Gordons for this rookie but loved every minute of it :) Just a little too underpowered every now and then. Nice to see the familiar smiling faces. Summer feels like it is on it's way.

Fun session with Morewind, Mf4, Keen, Wingnut, RDood, Kus and WDoc. Started out marginal then wind and swell picked up on the outside. Wind filled into shore later on. Good wind, good swell, good friends.

:D Woo hoo, finally wind and sun on a weekend! Kinda puffy and marginal at first but picked up to full on 4.7 wind way out there and then moved into shore by late in the afternoon. Had to stay on the bigger sail for a couple of hours because it was too light inside for a 4.7 but after coming in for a break it was filled in enough to rig down. Got out easily on the small sail and had a blast on the outside till I was too tired to sail anymore. 8)
