Solid non-stop 2 hour session. :D Occasional very sweet lineup of swell, then confused other times. The cold sort of held me back from trying any tricks... just a relaxed sail enjoying the swell and getting a few jumps. Felt too bound up in neoprene to try any loops. The palmless mitts kept the hands warm, but no matter how you look at it, gloves suck

I was thinking about going to IV on my way down I stopped by at Willows and saw KUS and another guy were having way to much fun, so I decided to join the party. What a swell party was it! Fully powered 4.5 time to time a little overpowered, some holes here and there but nothing to really complain about. Had a few good jibes, now I better understand how to position myself relatively to the swell, so it all goes nice and smooth.

North section had nice ridable 4 ft swell, flat section on south side. Very ... (more)

Wondered what the hell I was doing driving through Lantzville in a blizzard with 2-3 cm of snow on the ground. Ended up being fun but brief. Sailed 4.2 for 40 minutes or so with a couple of hand warmup breaks. Snow really stings the eyes. Rigged the 5.0 and was feeling pretty warm and fired-up but it died after 15 minutes and Ozzy and I had a nice 10 minute swim in. Some big airs and a couple of nice front-side hits. Wish it had lasted longer.

Well the next best thing to Columbia is Island View. Great 4.0 for two hours or so. Nice swell, the wind turned more onshore later in the morning. Nice shore break too, only got punished 3 or 4 times. Very cold on the hands - they never did warm up. And now as I look out the window its snowing. Brrrrr. Only a few back loop attempts and lazy swell rides today.

:D Yes, 1st time out on the Carve 99 was a good learning experience. Got to Bazan at 9:45am and it went from SE to E to NE to N and started snowing....yuck! Had fun practicing my waterstarts and sailing with water up to my knee's....HA! 99 litres isn't that much when you weigh 220lbs + wet suit and rig. Scotty, we need more power  . Came in and eased off the downhaul and outhaul and started rippin'. Still waterstarting at each turn so I was getting chilly with the 3/2 in the sleet so I called it a ... (more)

Wow What an awesome day. Thoguht about IV but man shore break was too big. I had lots of power at Willows though (actully a little too much but I just had to try out that new sail) The only downside was that it was a bit cold out today brrrr, but still very fun

A good long day on the water. Nice waves until the ebb kicked in then it got choppy. Good port ramps. A few backloop attempts, Hoss tacks, reg Tacks, 360s, thats about it. 4.5 felt really good until late aft when it kicked up a notch. Nice to have local sailing for a change.

Nice to sail local waters again. Tried lots more forwards. Got a bit cocky and launched a big one off of a large ramp, over rotated an endo, still found myself 7' up and bailed. Got my foot stuck in the strap and tweaked it. Lesson learned: I'm not ready for big forwards yet

Learning lots in over and underpowered loop attempts. Windy in the afternoon!!

Rigged up 4.5 sailed for about 30 min and then it became too strong and gusty. More downhaul didn't help much, got punished on the reef, and spat out :) . Chickened out off forwards again , I need a little saneier conditions. My jumps are coming nicely though, got a couple on a port tack , woo-hoo! On starboard tack just got this nice wooooosh feeling on a take off!

First time on water in almost 2 mo. Nice 4.7 wind at first with some gusts but fairly smooth swells. Later on got gustier and started nukin'. tide was ebbing the whole time so the chop got ugly later on as well. A little cool on the fingers but manageable. Wind Doc was throwing some nice forwards. :D

:( Launched from Ross Bay as tide was out and lots O' Kelp at Kook St and the reef was showing. First run was great, powered up but boom too low so came back in and moved boom higher, next run sloggin until the outside. Then it was slog - pump - plane - slog - pump - plane....until I got too tired and came in. Not the best sailing but better than nothing!! :D

day started with Dave and I doing a lot of waffling on whether to head up island on a sketchy forecast. but, the drive was worth it. 8 windsurfers on the water, with lots of people trying new tricks. I learned one new thing today - don't try looping on an upwind takeoff  all the articles say to bear off, a lot - and, they are right :!: wish I had that crash on video. Got a couple of helis, and did a couple of 360s. fun day.

Great day! The first session was nice 4.5 conditions with fun riding on the inside and lots of backloops. Trev and Bry were throwing some HUGE backs! Came in for a break disappointed that I hadn't tried any forwards. Second session was on the freestyle board and 5.0. Saw Mike come back out on the water with his game face on and was stoked to see him toss a nice forward! A good long day. Tried lots of back loops but mostly lame attempts. Tried 3 forwards with only one having a hint of some rotation. It's a start I guess. Hats off to the super duper loopers Mike and Chris. Maybe some more tries tomorrow...

:D :D :D [b:b6438c27aa]Kus[/b:b6438c27aa] and I came about 11, it was marginal 4.5, I felt quite powered up, didn't tried LOOPING right away ( should though ), tried some other things instead, had few very good runs then it drooped a bit.

During the break I talked to [b:b6438c27aa]Bryan[/b:b6438c27aa] and [b:b6438c27aa]Trev[/b:b6438c27aa] about looping, thanks guys for such a great boost! Once I said OK there was no way back, so I did it, I went for a forward, didn't quite go around though, but made a ... (more)

Lotsa hate being thrown, 3 loops at once witnessed

Nice 20-25 knot session at Columbia. Decent swells. A few mishaps incl busted Q line, death spiral. Then later my spreader bar coming out of the clip on one side (totally my fault) then getting launched and landing on my elbow in 8" of water, then losing my kite and spreader bar then recovering both of them. Alex got my kite but hindenberged his onto the beach. Thanks to Snapper I waded in the shore at dusk and unbeleivably found my spreader bar. An eventful day, might have overdone it a bit. Reinforces why ... (more)

Another blast of a columbia day. Nice and warm. great for trying LOOPS :D best loop attempt today - got right around with the board still attached. BIG thanks to Bryan and Trever for stoking me up to really sheet in. Hoping to sail away from one very soon 8) . Lots of looping action - BWD was going for loops. And WindDoc sailed away from one -- Congrats doc :!: :!: Had fun tacking on the inside and letting the waves create a sideways slide effect. some heli attempts - still battling those thing ... (more)
