Great time on water today. Dialed in and not too crowded. Some nice swell near the beach but too much kelp to make it overly fun. Sunny and windy!!

Arrived just as wind was getting funky. Had to sail waaay further out than I'd have liked to get the best wind. Rode the Evo for a change and loved it when I was powered. Threw some loops on the outside and over rotated a couple. Looked like a better day for kiting as the eve approached.

As luck would have it, I was able to get the day off. :) The wind was peaking between noon and 1pm so I got some time in on my 4.0, then it started to go up and down so I stayed on my 4.7 the rest of the day. Unfortunately, it was very choppy till later on when the wind was coming down. Nice and sunny altho' a little cool. Had a 10 min. session on Doc's evo.

!WOW! Globetrotter, RookieRyan, MartyD and I drove out to Comox today, expecting nuking wind. After a rainy drive, with nothing even a slight whisper of a breeze, things were looking bleak...

We got there at about noon and still nothing. After watching a movie and and waiting for wind, it was decided that we rig up and see what happens. Rigged up in the pouring rain, and still nothing...

Then Globe spoke to some locals and they cam up with the brilliant idea of renting one of those diesel generator li ... (more)

Land flying at Tulista while the kids played at the playground.

Addicted to flying both the trainer kites. Haven't been in the water since Nitinat (early Sept) but trying to gain more kite feel. 3-4 times per week (peninsula locations) since early October.

Enjoying harnessing the wind with figure eights to create apparent wind. Practicing the kiteboarding stance, and learning more about the wind window and various conditions.

Looking forward to body dragging in the water again in the future.

Things picked up about 20 minutes later and I was on the water just after ten. Up and down, schlogging in long lulls, then powered up to OP. Great day though despite the wonky wind... got nice and warm in the sun, and nobody else out on the water, snow on some of the mountains across the straight and on Arrowsmith.

Hmmmm..... WNW. First time sailing that wind at Invermere. Wind hole near shore, and much gustier then a typical NW. Wind blows mostly side shore/slightly off shore, enough to bring up a significant amount of sea grass and created a series of 'grass lines' that made planning pretty much impossible near shore.

Much nicer further out in the straight where there was less debris and steadier wind. Needed the big gear to get out there, but somewhat OP in the straight.

Nice mellow 5.0 session. Due to various recent harness line expiry's, today I sported asymmetrical harness lines. The different lengths were good to try out, and I think the longer lines are the way to go. Just have to wait till I break my current stock (which should be another few sessions). Good fun and some half decent swell.

    Hot Sails Maui Superfreak 4.7
    :D

That was a fun day - definitely worth taking a day off work even if the waves weren't great by CB standards. I counted 20 boards on the water at one point... good turnout for a weekday. Got on the water before 1pm with the 5.5 and it was already enough for a 4.7 on the outside. By 3pm it kicked up on the inside as well so I spent the rest of the session on my 4.7. Brought my drysuit just in case but didn't need it. :D

Best part of the day was the wicked bottom turn cut back combo on a nice inside wave followed by a sweet tail slide. Got to love that!

Worst part of the day was forgetting to cut my toe nails....OUCH how did those get so long. GROSS!!!

Worth the Cannonball run drive! Rigged the 5.3 and stayed slightly overpowered for over half the session. Landed one ok backie and close on many others. Saw Bean sky a hilarious over-rotation on one backie. Great crowd of windsurfers and a young new face (Riley?) who is already a ripper. Look out Ozy and Paul, this kid is going to dominate CB if he keeps it up!
