1.00 hours Ocean Rodeo One 9m
It was quite windy earlier, thought I would be overpowered on the 10 so I rigged the 9m. As it is, it was fine on the 9m, but would have been a bit better on the 10m. Not much lift, but did find myself smiling a fair bit. Not too gusty, and relatively speaking, pretty warm too. Nice to play in the sun. Orcas at the end, a big pod, but I had to watch from the beach.

Arrived at Cook to wind that didn't look like 30 knots Dorothy, but look at all those whales going by the kites and sailboards! Glad to see they didn't look like hunting mode. There were half a dozen in the light wind patch between 'inside' and 'outside' coming up breathing in unison and a bunch of outriders, some BIG dorsals on the males. Rigged big but it was still too small, got a few slogging runs in, one run in the straps. Asked Bear if he had seen the whales. "Oh, my head was underwater and ... (more)

Had a good 1/2 hour on the 4.7 at first, then the wind eased off for awhile and then got gusty for the rest of the session. Had lots of power with the 5.5 most of the time but the chop was ugly and really messed up the waves. There was a band of big rollers about 1/2 a mile out that was fun to play in. I was lucky to have work cancelled for the day. :) I guess I left before the killer whale show started. :(

Tried one of Marathon Dave's signature ollies and nearly ollied the board into my head! Might need a few thousand more attempts before that one works out as well for me. Fun to try though.

The 111 board was a bit big but the Ezzy 5.2 was just right.

Blew all my jibbing attempts but my waterstarts are gett better !

Looking forward to getting out at CB , the water temp might be a shock !

Shared the lake with more salmon than wind folks. Three or four kites on the lake, with me being the solo windsurfer. :) Respectable light wind thermals allowed about an hour of fun with the 7.5/95L (40cm fin). Gotta love jibe anywhere conditions. No significant airtime, but lots of Salmon made up for it. No bears. All out had a great day. Road from PA - Bamfield is super, the rest is a war zone. Bring on the SE's!!!

Wind was slow to start, and light, but still a great time. After being suckered out on the smaller gear, and ending up at the bottom end of the beach, I wizened up and took out the big board. Had a great session. Flying on the 5.9, and was able to get my first gybe. Hurray! Met new friends, and enjoyed the warm weather. No bears.

First time at squamish, it's true what they say, kites out number windboarders 20 to 1.

Couldn't believe they want you to pay $15 as a day use fee! It's nothing more than a gravel parking lot, 2 outhouses and a couple of tarps. Sure they have boats and jetskis to save the kiters from drifting out into the ocean but I also saw them burning around and playing with the kiters at the end of the day. As a windsurfer I fully expect to self-rescue so seems crazy to pay for boat gas unless I signed up for less ... (more)

rigged big for a sometimes overpowered session at my new favorite spot! warm water, warm sun and lots of room to move. fun sailing and also watching the Vic crew do their dirty tricks and cunning stunts.

Got there rigged the 15 and it started to pick up. Did a few reaches and it was super gusty. Died off very quickly... then the kite fell...

Long drive for not much

Got there late after work and it looked like I missed the best wind. I tried for a bit hoping the wind would pick up but it didn't. Maybe Sunday will be better.
