Nice to play in the waves. Barely planing conditions, then came up and was overpowered. I ran home to grab the 95L board five minutes later the wind died. Saw a young kid out there teaching himself to beach and water start. He even made his own sail which he used until his parents bought him one. Awesome to get out there and see some young enthuisiasm.

started on the slalom gear, then TS B & J and 5.8, and then it ramped up and I grabbed the 5.0. Got one run to the log boom and jibed and then, in 2 minutes it went from 25 knots to 0. I sank, and swam 1/2 way back before tweezer and ULR came and gave me a ride on kayaks. Weird. SO warm, though - boardshorts and rashguards. We all went swimming in shorts at 8 pm in dead calm warm water. Amazing evening. Then it rained Sat night and we packed up in the rain on Sunday and headed home.

Wind took quite a while to build enough for the 5.3. Watched DWD try some good grubby attempts and got my stoke on. Nailed a few good vulcans, one loop, and got hucked repeatedly 1/2 way through my grubby attempts before breaking the plastic plate on my rear footstrap. Missed the best wind of the day trying to find a replacement, and by the time I did (thx windsurfish) the wind shut off with a rain squall. Even better day for learning than yesterday. It's great for me to to be able to get on the water early before most of the other kiters who are waiting for strong wind. No crowds, safer conditions for flailing. Felt like going upwind was effortless today, though my windsurfing brain is constantly trying to take control and do dumb things like weighting the front foot like on my wave board (faceplant time!) or sheeting in with the back hand on occasion (kite loops!). Once again day started mellow, at around 2:30pm was nuff to go out on the 16 and play. At around 4ish it began to kick in and I was powered heavily on the 16. Wanted to go down to the 10 but knew once headed in that would be the end of it as work beconed. Got some great air. Had to come in finally as I simply could no longer hang onto the 16.

good times. a lot of folks were underpowered today but i was fine on my 6.2. worked the hoss tacks, heli tacks and the 1/2 grubby. i quit just as a squall came thru, suckered a lot of people out on small gear who ended up swimming in. The lake was littered with swimmers and downed kites, quite a sight! Mucho gracias to anthony for the shuttle service!
ps i got my old downhaul stick back!

The wind picked up after kiting for perfect freestyling conditions on the 5.3 for a while before it died. Nailed a bunch of fast slidy vulcans, rotated accidentaly into a couple spock crashes, but stoked! Crashed lots of grubbies. Windsurfish was getting some good chop hops and Janetfish is ripping! Great 2 sport day.

First day on the water with the new OR 12m Rise, first day kiting this season, 4th day kiting ever (only three session last year; two of them very brief due to crashing kite and swimming in with a giant rat's nest). All I can say is if you are new to kiting and have been struggling with a larger kite (relaunching, staying upwind etc) the new Rise is the way to go!! We had to wait until 3:30 ish before we saw wind and we were powered up until 6:30pm (Kiters were going strong even after 6:30). First session of the year with Dave. Jibes are improving but I still need improving. I started out under powered on the 6.0 and then over powered but I cranked down the sail to depower it a bit and it was great through to 6:30 on one sail.

Shoulders cramping from driving 1500 km in 2 days, boat launch and pullout at just the right time, old-style cruising with that huge glacier-covered mt at the head of the lake - awesome scenery. I think I'm in many people's snapshots today; odd that a windsurfer on a mountain lake should be a rarity nowadays. Planed a couple o times even. Alta Lake actually very sailable, but had to go to dinner instead.

Started out at around 2:30 sailing really funky wind, workin the @#$!@ out of the 16, through a kite loop with air and landed it, yeh baby. Got off the water around 3:30. Went back out at 4:25 and it was rockin, didn't have time to rig smaller so was super lit on the 16, boy did the mako shine here, could keep board speed up and hold major power, some serious takeoffs today 8) 8) . Overall filled the stoke back up.

OOOOOHHHhhhhh I miss the island. Sorry to report I feel even sorrier 4 Richmond residents (what a hole except for the sushi) :oops: /lower mainland sailors. Weeds, footballs of weeds, more weeds. Kiting conditions 4beginners were amazing, butter, steady, too bad my kite's safe @home :roll: Absolutely abyssmal sailing conditions, even guy w/ 7.5, mega freeboard et weedfin was sloggin'. Got one short ride, took 30 min working upwind to get it :evil: :x

Great summer session with Bean, DWD, Gwind, Morewind, David Strang and a couple others who I didn't know. Solid 4.7 all morning. Got some decent shuvits, slidy vulcans and threw quite a few loops. Felt like sailing in the warm blow dryer thermals at the wall or DOUGS. NICE WORK MOREWIND ON FACING THE HATE AND HUCKING THE DREADED PORT FWD. :D

Now that's more like it. Solo 7am dawn patrol - powered up 5.0 with wet noodle back-up boom. Came down and I headed smiling in thinking it was done, it wasn't. Another hour and the crew started to arrive. Port forwards coming along - one endo ... probably did ten today. Again, thought I was done - headed to Dr.'s appt. Couldn't stay away. Came back for another hour - couple of solid port forwards to easy still in the footstraps waterstarts but my vulcans are pathetic. Fun to sail with Dunk, DWD and Morewind ... (more)

Was a little worried with the history I've had with English Bay but I must say it was a solid 5.2 session. The busted up log tow off the North Arm made for an interesting debris field.
