another fun NW.
A bit less than yesterday, so had to go farther out to find a consistent breeze.
Unfortunately started to ease after an hour or so, and not wanting to have a paddle in, pulled the pin and came in a bit earlier than i would have preferred.
Not a bad way to start a Friday though.

Strong and gusty. OPd on the 4.0 in confused seas. Reduced foil and sail for a much more manageable ride on the 3m. A bit twitchy for me on a 1000cm, took the boots off and that seems to help with foil control. Post-session debrief with the South Islanders. A gust of wind dragged board and foil a few feet through the pebbles, good reminder to secure my rig to a log next time:/ Thanks Highrocker for the quick recovery.

Well, the forecast was there, as well as favourable tides, setting up what I was hoping to be an Epic WREB with possible Unicorn side-off conditions once the wind switched to W/NW. Perhaps expectations were a tad high after such a great week in Hatty!
What transpired was more of a Donkey sighting with gusty, shifty S-SSE surprisingly weedy sesh with hell chop in place of the nice windswell usually found here.
Dead seal on the beach really added to the overall flavour of the sesh.
Those who felt they missed ... (more)

Got another quick post work session, gotta love RB play park in the backyard! Blowing strong, gusty, shifty. About a 20 minute period of nice waves came through, farther out and heading straight to the Gonzales/Trial gap, then it got really flat (sorry Dave) so played around on the inside with tacks, 360s, jibes, while Tuna took runs at me trying to jump me if i fell.. i still really like his dog though :)

Crazy gusts. Could have been on 2.5 but needed 3.5 for the lulls. Rocked the ArtPro1001 and got long rides. Couple 2 for 1s took me from Incinerator to Lovekin. Ozy, Jessie and more ripping it up on windsurfers along with Max shredding on wing. Had some windsurf envy but I've evolved and moved on. Loyal to the foil. Blowing 15 knots already this morning!

A short session LOLO. Only Pepe out, doing a photo shoot, when I got there. Pepe and his photographer probably figured I was going to noob ruin the shots and he landed. I did my minimum number of jibe attempts to log and then foiled in as I didn't feel confident to solo it. Hard fall on first turn bumped the rail on edge, later I used the helmet to stop the board I didn't see coming. After, Pepe complained about not landing his 900s while I groused about not making my 180s.

What a great evening to reintroduce myself to windsurfing. Strong wind started in the afternoon and I just planned to miss it all as usual cause I had an appointment and a meeting booked. Home by 6:00 and it's still cranking. Long drive to the beach and had the place to myself except one kiter and one winger down towards Rathtrevor. So fun in the pseudo waves. A couple almost head high. One long swim to get some cardio after I bailed on a jump. I'm alive....

Hard but rewarding session. 95 minutes on the 72L Omen. Big step-down from 105L. Just like any other step-down to a smaller volume board, everything feels hyper tippy at first. But I was up quick and when you're up on this board, good things happen to you. Way too gusty for a 5m but the 4m was just fine. Lots of wind but gusty. Not so much on the swell.

Gust fest at RB! Super flat in the bay with lots of holes and gust geysers. Quite a bit intimidated by the bigger winds past Clover. Easy enough to stay in the bay and get faux flag outs with the big SW winds. Great to share the swells with GregCan, Danno, Matt, Grant, Alain, and many more. Much less kelp and jetsam compared to yesterday. Excellent vibe in the sets. Thanks for the post-ride bevies, Danno!

Nasty one. More wobbly wind coming in close to NW mixed with W. Punchy. Not a good mix with still getting used to short fuse and 999. Sketchy bails.
Looked and smelt like the coast guard was discharging their holding tank into the bay. Disgusting. A seal popped up with a stupid look on its face that said 'was that you or' was that me''?.
2m/~40knots on arrival. Went out with 4m a short while later, died down, went out with 5m then was op'd. Bad timing but good experience as always! Big ... (more)

Pretty great day! No rain and some sunshine. Steady wind and water is not cold. Windfoilers today as no one here so stuck with what I know. I'll try Winging if the wind calms down. Road n was good. Started on the 1100cm2 front foil and when wind picked up to 25kts, went down to the 900cm2. Started to get gusty at 4pm so called it quits and cracked open an ice cold Corona. Hoping some more peeps show up.
BOBSON OUT!!

Looked sort of windy way up at the point so took a 4m and hedged the lulls with the 1225. Right wing choice but foil felt HUGE even in the small surf. Brazilian Buzzkill guy pestering everyone. Tough session but some good high-G turns erased the bad vibes of one individual. Mayhem at times though! Hopefully swell shows tomorrow!! Tow session was fun this am!

Fun lunchtime session at Ross Bay! Gordon had just come off the water when I arrived and gave me the scoop on the conditions. TunaCan stopped by Goat Hill but was planning on a session later in the day. No other wingers while I was out -- just one windfoiler I didn't recognize but had some fun passes with. Overpowered frequently on my 4m. I'm foiling more in control on my bad side now, and I'm starting to go through the motions of learning to gybe. Ang, Danno, both Gregs, DrMark, Alain and Tweezer rig ... (more)

White Rock delivered! First on the water just before 11. Thought I would be overpowered but overall ok. Some lulls and some strong gusts. Lots of kites up when I had to go.
Good to see the White Rock crew!

that was a gooder- gale NW, so a bit gusty, swirly in the bay, but quite manageable.
Lots of opportunity to practice some turns - all gybes though- I'm at the point i don't fall a lot anymore doing those, so the thought of all that crashing getting a tack down is a bit daunting. Maybe next time;-)

Light and spotty for an hour. Decent swell but not strong enough wind to appreciate them. I worked the narrow wind corridor near the point to squeeze in a session. Sticks & weed.

DW board was a session saver! Started light SSW, then went really light and gusty for 30 minutes, then picked up out of the WNW. Fun dodging the eel grass, kelp and other floating treasures.

Good start to the 6 day Tofino trip. Waist hi sets with gusty wind. Juiced in the gusts and almost nothing in the lulls, trying to not drop off foil. Scored some nice long rides on the 1099 glider. Hopefully the forecast Chicama swell hits Saturday.

Launched off Clover because because didnt feel like a swim. Was awesome actually, as walked archie easily and waited for wind bubble to pop. Swell was great, wind was great, tide line was terrible. A dead porpoise floated by, and then suddenly all the kites and wingers came out of nowhere till sunset! Oh and shout out to Puff Daddy for rescue of the year!

New kite to try out, started just after 4:30 when the lull hit, had a short swim in. But reset and headed back out again only to see Davey_k coming back in just as I was about to set off. Waited a bit, CB showed up and must have brought the wind. So I re-launched and headed out, a fun but overpowered session lots of debris in the water. A warm and a fun time on the new kite as I got to see the low end and high end today! As I was leaving, gave my parking spot to the evening kite crew coming in.
