The wind was weird today, turbulent and punchy. I still had a pretty good session but I did feel challenged and uncertain. I am not sure why but it is what it is. I certainly did have some fun with the big swell. That swell could have been truly awesome but the chop was something else. I did get to ride some big fat swell edges, so I am certainly grateful. I enjoyed my after session debrief time with j_dog, as we watched the brave jumpers. So glad for the spring/summer conditions at Clover.

Lots of sun and the warm weather made for fun session however the large swell combined with the current and shore bubble made it challenging at times. Fun swell around Clover Pt, also found some fun swells around Cook St but it ended up becoming large swelly bombs after a while. It was fun riding them but then it became really choppy between the swells so decided to call it. Thanks Davey_k for the launch and the chat after.

First time out on the 'new' DW board I bought off of Windoc. What a great session! I was a bit worried how it would go with such a narrow board but I think it's even easier than the typical boards! I start sideways on my knees as I've never really used/practiced the stink bug but it was really quite easy. The fore/aft stability makes a big difference as Greg points out in his Omen vids. Great performance once up and soon I was connecting turns. Went down to to the mouth of baynes channel to buzz my friend J ... (more)

Scored a quick session. Beautiful warm barefoot day! Big smooth swellys, some real bomber rides. Very nice till wind dropped which had many of us bobbing and schlogging and pumping for a while in the large rollers. Managed to get going and beelined it to the beach. Fun times with a lot of wings and new faces.

First while was good practice, almost got round on the outside with wave assist. BIG on outside I mostly stayed just inside the tide race. Still roaring all around. I chased Angelico down wind and wobbly waves for a bit of drunken monkeying, maybe I'll get a cameo on video. BWD was following me and did a nice circuit as a I swam after crashing crossing a biggie. Matt out and Morgan and some others. Mother's Day so I think 5 women out winging, RB record? Wind went almost straight offshore and silly for a ... (more)

Well, if you're looking for a way to meet new people' breaking your pump and having to borrow one multiple times for wing changes is a great strategy. Thanks Morgan and the others I met. Decent wind for the 4 and beauty swell on the little board. Biggest conditions on it so far and went pretty well until the wind dropped. Managed to get up and in for a short walk of shame. Chatted and re rigged the 5.5 and played inside. Been trying a new tactic where I luff the wing heading upwind and glide over the ne ... (more)

After a great morning tow foiling, JB and I winged Chicama in the afternoon despite protesting quads from the morning. Chicama is the absolute dream wingfoil spot and towing is so fun. One of the crew came in and said 'I feel like I'm peaking on shrooms' he was so happy! Last eve was also excellent. More please! We'll worth putting on the bucket list for sure! Oh, and sharing waves with my windsurfing hero, Kauli Seadi has been a dream. Had no idea he'd be here too. Frothy froth froth'LOL!

Pipers came through again! Lots of 5m winds to be had by the time I got in the water just before noon. Not as strong as Thursday, but lots there for foil play. Fraser was already doing the high-speed Fraser thing beyond the channel marker. Lots near the beach and further out in my morning session shared with a couple of other novice foilers. Second session was a bit tougher as the ebb tide and winds were going the same direction. Still got lots of play in in my first wetsuit day of the season!

Arrived just before 8am to a mostly empty parking lot other than Docker pulling his board out of his vehicle. Fairly light to start but enough on the outside once you got there. Nice waves for flagged out rides although sometimes tough when there was barely enough breeze to float the wing. Got my first tacks in the waves and a bunch more on the inside, really starting to lock them in. Breeze built after the first hour and eventually a couple of locals showed up along with Highrocker, but never more than 4 w ... (more)

Gosh darn Hockey game had me up late East coast time, awoke to 10 degrees cooler temps as the winds had shifted N. Still a great direction to launch right from the spot and had a fun 2 hrs cruising up to Island Creek dodging oyster beds and crab pot floats. Shifty NNW-NE winds made it a little tricky at times, powered solidly then shift to lull!
Not nearly as much fun as yesterday, was stoked to check out the Ocean for potential sesh by the Avon Pier but had cut my feet medium-badly on some shells on landin ... (more)

So much for an early bird session. Woke up at 4:30 to 10 knots from the west. 5 am wasn't much better so waited until 6 and it showed 18 wnw. Was out the door in 5 minutes. Foiled for 2 hours. Started with 10-12 knots and built to 15-18. Was the best when I had to leave. Still worth the drive. Worked on using a narrower stance which made foot switches easier and more consistent on the dw board.

So foggy to try to remember 3 days back (should have taken notes). First day at Nitinat 2024. Decided to go with Ms. Slaker when the weather looked good. In fact it was her who said Thursday - hey it is sunny and warm in Alberni, and colder in Bamfield, let's go to Nitinat (wow!). Only a handful of folks around. My neighbour was Pepe Krause and it is amazing to see what these young folks can do wing foiling. To boot he and his family are super nice, and he was super open to talk foiling/gear/setup - v ... Coma sleep after 'The Drive' and windy double-sesh yesterday. Awoke to freshing SW that got DB out winging early, then headed back to Kite Beach on the lure of stronger forecast and hopes of more fun sessions with Aiken and the North crew. Light got lighter so headed back home and scored 2 hrs of fun rides right out front of our rental place on the Sound, lit 10m.
Hoping for potential Ocean sesh if the wind goes NE, but competing forecasts make it iffy.
Hope springs eternal!

Well, not as advertised. Arrived to RVPaul, MtnarG and The Twizzler all rigging 6,8,5 respectively. I rigged the 7.0m as it looked like 8-12kts with a couple caps by the yellow buoy. Follwed The Twizz out with RVPaul not far behind. Grant still rigging/watching...the smart one. I got up foiling a few times but nothing to brag about. Lots of pumping and lots more schloggin' and not the good kind.....oh wait, that's snogging', sorry. None of that either. Came back in after an hour and a bit although it felt l ... (more)

Waffled between Cuba, Maui and Hatteras for the week with Da Boyz; lack of direct flight and $$ took Maui out of the running and meh forecast had us passing on Koobah (stupid cheap tho, at $895 all incl!)
Hatty it was! Drive sucks from YYZ no matter how you slice it, tho pimp rental Dodge Pickup truck swallowed all the gear.
Drove right into LIT 10m goodness, cold beers and high fives with all the Ontario crew at the beach, great to see the whole crew in full effect!
Boosting with DB up at the Buxton slicks ... (more)

Sweet session. Way more wind than expected! Especially around 2 pm when I came in. Most of the time I was North of Point Grey and went to the North Arm jetty twice. Yes, I could have been on smaller gear, but really enjoyed the downwind riding after easy upwind legs. Awesome day!

Nice to be back on the water with KC7s. Long walk to the water due to the extremely low tide but it filled in after a while. Hit a school of fish at one point and almost bailed. Another guy hit a seal so I guess I'm lucky.
After a couple hours I decided to try my new Cabrina Mantis 5.0 V3 on my giant windfoil board. After a few minutes of holding the wing awkwardly I got foiling and almost jibed. Did one more reach and took a hard jibe to back splat. Arms were toast after a long afternoon on the water so ... (more)
