Missed the morning 10 knots due to early chores and chats but Richard got out to do some light wind testing on his downwind hand kite setup. Good on him!!. We talked a bit about coaching & Olympic sailing stuff we are both familiar with. Its neat what he's done in past lives coaching for BC Sailing.

This was the main event for the weekend and it didn't disappoint. I wasn't as disciplined as BWD and Rup Dogg as they were there plenty earlier but at 9am it was still great conditions. Forecast had it dropping but it actually increased again to make for a whole day of great riding. First time up to the lake this year. Machine came over from Vancouver for the weekend. Arrived around 11:30 and the wind was just starting, got on the water around 12:30 after watching Bobson barely have enough for the first little while. Went to about 5:45 then stopped for Dinner and a couple drinks before a quick sunset sail. Finished the day at the Bonfire on the beach. No wetsuit all day!

1:30pm out on the Wing. Perfect conditions! 15kts and fairly flat water. Getting some steering ability and staying dry on about 75% of my jibes. Maybe 60% planing through and touch down, foot switch and back foot pressure to get it up! So much fun!!!

Slow start to the wind for fins. After an early failed ws attempt Udder was kind enough to walk up to the house and help me carry back my windfoil gear...thanks Udder!!! Wind foil was the call in the lighter wind.
Wind finally kicked in sufficiently steady and strong to allow ws at about 11:45am so headed back out on the windsurfer. Enjoyed an hour or so of bliss.
A long debrief and beer session after with the crew...a couple more than the normal 1 after session refreshment...thanks for sharing!!!

(Unfortunately) But a nice wetsuit-less afternoon mix of low speed upwind sailing and speed reaches water colors are great and so were all the sailors out there having fun. Good long day. Out early with raw_dogg and regular Dog on the DW boards in the same wind as yesterday. Did a tour way upwind with a fun downwinder. Took a break, then the wind amped up around 1pm and was enough to get on the small board and foil with fun waves. Great apres session in the sun with lots of laughs, beers and pillow talk. Udders last day ever so we had to spend some time with him.

Wind took its time to come up this morning so went foiling on 10m - first time this week. Quickly overpowered so switched to twin tip but the wind never built to the 25ish of previous days. Still lots of fun. Final day at the lake - back to the grind.

Okay, I've got a real addiction to this tropical foiling! Another shorty day at Pipers! So warm that it was a relief to crash and get some cooling comfort. Started with 6m as it felt much like yesterday's light wind session. Lifting was easy and it was stronger than Friday. Same bigger swells in the morning that kinda scared me. Arrived around 4:00 to buggy hot nimpkish conditions. Set up camp next to a pitchy tree but good shade and panoramic view. Camp was crowded and not friendly. Rigged a 4.7 for myself as Sharon was not ready to sail. Finally looked enough around 6:30 so headed out. Should have taken the super mini but the gusty conditions meant taking the 96 for insurance getting out. Completely lit once out. A few nice ramps but probably not as fun as Nitnat. Another evening session. Dropped a little earlier than the past few days. Ended up with my kite in the water unable to relaunch. Thankfully it was shallow and the waves weren't breaking onto the kite. A little sad for a last session in Oregon, but I had some fun while it lasted. Already excited for a potential return next summer!

Fun evening session with BWD and Rup Dogg resting after a full afternoon. Came in to change up to 5m from 4m and Rup Dogg then joined for some great riding in warm water and breeze. Finished the evening with us three going for dinner for expensive but tasty burgers! Great way to start a weekend! Thanks guys!

Late to the water but happy to be there. On going tuning trying to make a too big sail work on a 9'4 board. Finally got the hacksaw out to get the Sail tack a little closer to the deck. And managed to get in the straps. For me a 6.8 or 7.2 would be best for this site in summer.
Great to meet Juan & Loisa and Gus? and more folks to see BWD in the house! So I paid my dues and say thanks again for underpinning so many a sailors plans. Also great to hear about Udder's Ketch-ing plans and to see BW ... (more)
