Downwinder! Have been wanting to do a downwinder off the boat for awhile now and finally got it today while coming home from Sidney Spit. The doctor was in with the the heat today! Jumped off in Satellite Channel while the wife motored for home, sailed all the way downwind to Cherry Point Marina before getting back on the boat. Have really figured out the dinghy behind the boat launch and reboarding. Lots of fun and I am sure the first of many. Awesome to have a thermal breeze so close to home!

Time-limited Canada Day session. Grant and I arrived to Danno on foil so we rigged up, then just as we got our wetsuits on the wind died. Waited it out for a while until the wind came back slightly. A couple foiling runs, then had to pack up to make it to evening events on time, just as the conditions started to get good.

Axis demo day. Started first 25 on the 980. Haven't foiled on it for over a year. Very forgiving, good glide, slower than the 999. Then back to the 999 until I bumped into Steve Fisher and he offered a spitfire 900 demo. Foiled that for an hour or so - turns on rails, easy foiling. No little twitches where you wonder if everything is going to go to hell in a hand basket. Then I tried the 899. Whoa! Liked that. Fast, turns hard and glides like the 999. I'm addicted to the glide! Told Steve it was the ' ... (more)

Brought out the light wind foil-alternative gear for a super light wind session. One kiter on a 12m was came in as I arrived and said it was a hard go with the 12m. So I pumped the 14.5 Aluula Flite and took the big Tiki dance floor. It was a perfect combination for the day. I got a launch from j_dog and headed out on the windward side. There were no white caps, no chop and no swell. Just wavelets. I had lots of power most of the time but a few lulls did happen but they were not so bad that I was wor ... (more)

Best day of my CC vaycay! Sunny, hot, lots of wind, good friends, and a Bobson to chase. Still choppy and that made for a few short flags. Tremendous fun and beer and lunch in between sessions made for a happy foiler. Lots of flow state moments while pushing my carving limits in the strong winds. Wonderful shorty wetsuit sessions. Lots of fishing boats, but luckily there was lots of space for everyone. Really nice wind destination when the sun and winds are out. I'll be back......

Winging The Wall! The 775 Razor Pro was very happy there. Big thanks to Tweezer for taking me out to the wall and sharing some fun wave rides. Near the end the wind dropped and the swell turned nice and glassy making for some nice clean rides. What a beautiful spot! Locals were a little frosty, although some of them were winging as well, they just didn't want us there. Hope the afternoon session went well for Mark. practice day at Willows. A windsurfer, a BIC with big twin fins, was milking it and a dinghy was the only other foiler out. Progress slow, I did get some "making it" gybes touching down and jumping my feet around. Otherwise kept falling in to the inside from toeside. Good pumping practice all day. Wind was relatively steady for side-off Willows. Misjudged my distance coming in the last run and jumped off the foil standing up when the water was too shallow and tweaked my ankle. Hoping it ease ... (more)

Another beautiful day playing around in real salty water ocean wavey like conditions in wonderful Ross Bay, why would anyone leave it to go wing on a little river? I thought the dream team looked well polished and practiced and not nervous at all being back in our big open ocean conditions. A pro tip for ya DrOfWind, I find if I really bend my knees and lean way over on those turns it's almost overhead! All in all a nice sunny day, good wind, good crowd which was well behaved and all spread out. I did put ... (more)

I have been away for a while. I had a terrific holiday with my family in Montreal. I am lucky to have grown up kids that are doing well in their young lives and to be able to share with them a couple of holiday weeks together. I am also very happy to get back home to Victoria and to get back on the water. I got to Clover today and there was only one kiter doing some weird stuff on the tip of Clover point. Best session while cruising to date. Started the day in light air with some beach chills and taking the 3-1/2 year old sailing in the sailing dinghy, he was driving and trimming by the end of it! Breeze built around 2 and I set up the 2100sq foil on the beach which was quickly too much, changed to the 1300sq in the dinghy behind the boat and had a great session. Caught some small waves flagged out in Sidney channel and tried some new stuff unsuccessfully, heelside tacks, back wind sailing. Finished up and h ... (more)

Nice partial cloudy day at the Gorge. Gusty wind that built up from launch at 11am. Way overpowered in the down wind leg after riding upwind to the hatch and having the place to myself at noon. Wish I would have rigged down after the first 1.5 hrs.

Tired of riding fake river waves in the Gorge, I bee-lined it home early for the real thing in Ross Bay with my homies. Knee high never felt so radical.

Fun steep waves to start then it flattened out. 48 seemed a bit easier today. I think it will work out well. Good to see most of the Dream Team back from the Gorge. They looked stoked to be back in proper ocean swell and not those fake river waves.

Well, that was freakin Amazing!! Finished my Windfoil morning, headed in for lunch and came back and the fish boats were gone so pulled out the 5.0m KT Direct Drive Orange Wingy-Thingy. Perfect wind for the 5.0m Wing. A few other Wings out but that was it.' Where is everyone.? Sunshine and wind. WooHoo!! Getting better at my jibes, making 50-60% and by making I mean not falling n and continuing at planning speed, touching down, switching feet, couple bumpy-pumps and zoom! So many fish boats!! 70+ when I headed out at 11am. So I weaved in and out of the fishing fleet for just over an hour until most of them had finished. Then headed in to grab the Wing.

1 year of winging anniversary today! Had to be off the water by 2pm so I took the early shift and was the only one on the water until Grant joined towards the end of my session. Things started out a bit sloggy but improved after 45 min when the wind picked up ~5 knots and I had plenty of power with my 7m. The slogging was ok because it forced me to continue to work on my pumping technique, especially the foot component which I'm still not consistently dialling in. Lots of kelp and debris in the tide lin ... (more)

Sweet morning session at the wall with Tsawassen. Nice swells. Too bad about the guy that said it's windsurfers only. I went for a second session just to show wingers can be wallie's too. Swells were even better. I had a ton of fun. I have friends that windsurf.

Second day at the lake. Woke up to a breeze after rain yesterday so had breakfast and hit it. Light but fun on the 60L and 1201. Crazy low end capable just gliding downwind and ripping back up. The new 5.5 feels great as well. Hopefully some more in the days to come. Nice to enjoy it with the kids playing on the beach.

Pure lull conditions until the winds finally came at suppertime. As usual, Bobson was already windfoiling his arse off! Tried to follow him, in vain. Warm, humid, and showery for most of the day. Fun, despite the shortness of the session. I am warming to CC's wonders!
