What an awesome day! Davey_K rocked up to the parking beside me, followed by CB and we were the only three initially at Clover as the wind kicked in. Got to try out my new foil, Slingshot Phantasm PTM 730 at only 656cm project area, its a skinny dude. It took me 3 attempts (bucking bronco style) to get up on foil as I really needed to generate enough speed compared to my other 1250cm foil. But once foiling it felt great, lots of glide and really smooth in the turns, carved nicely and feels locked-in at spee ... (more)

Back to the Bay! Fantastic day in sun with nice swell. Good to ride waves and have some company again. Went through the 5,4 and 3m wings. Lots of Kelp floating at the point but other than that the debris was pretty manageable. Some of my longest flagged out rides to date, almost the whole way down the bay on a few. I saw lots of others getting great rides too. Got my first tacks in some bigger swell and even one on the 3m wing. I really need to get a smaller board and foils, had them way past the limit toda ... Upside down day. I guess that is the way. Longest single period on a foil without dropping...20-30mins? It felt like forever. Consistent wind for first hour. Great day to link swells. Lots of others killing it too. Tough ending with a total wind drop and swim. That was my queue to appreciate what I received and head home for dinner.

OK, 90% foiling turns.....YA BABY!! Killing it on the jibes now. WooHOO!! Anyways....Up early for steak, eggs and hashbrowns for breaky. Then a 2nd breaky at TnT's campsite which is really my campsite (f-16) but him and his posse were keeping it warm. It was cloudy and no real outflow. Wind started early and so did I. 10:30am with one kite foiler out already I blew up the 6.2m Ensis and went with the big board and 1100cm2 front foil. An absolutely fabulous day on the water. Met j_dog and found some space to setup between the stunt kite guys. It was lulling as I launched and went down the ramp. There was a large chunk of a big octopus at the bottom of the ramp which I decided not to take as a bad omen and headed out onto the reef as it was full low tide. My first attempt to get going did not work as the wind was lulling and I was deep in the bay, I came ashore and walked up the beach a couple hundred meters, dragged out a ways, tried ... (more)

Tried out my new Razor Pro 775 today. Not a good day to try new gear! Some x large, very steep sets rolled through with around 8 waves per set. Denied my first 3 attempts to get off the beach. Walked up to Tiny's and finally made it out. The wind felt good and I ripped around getting used to the new foil. Scored a few nice wave rides and then the wind died. Long swim back and sketchy as trying to get in without getting destroyed. Sets were massive! Made it in without any carnage.

Humiliation and frustration for the first half of the hour I had available. I just didn't have the mindset and skill to close the gap between really weird conditions and my set-up. I'm just not rigged for low-level wind conditions. And yet, better riders than me were exemplifying that this was MY weakness....lol. Trying to launch on a sinker out on multiple conflicting swell directions in little to no wind was a good learning experience and I am grateful that I just continue to get more hours of pain behind ... Got there as the wind was easing and everybody was slogging in. WDoc was making it work on his downwind board so headed out on Dragonfly and 5.0. Playful waves with lots of weed action mixed in. Got super light but the Dragonfly got me up in 6-8 knots. Solo session for the last hour. Warmup for big Sunday.

I almost gave up on the day as the wind was slow to come. I nonetheless went down to Clover at around 4 PM and watched as some cute kids had to run to keep their equally cute kites up in the air. Only 20 minutes later the wind arrived and quickly became proper 12m wind. As the wind came up the cute kids with their cute kites (and parents) packed up, I was left with the field to myself and two venerable stunt kite flyers who are often there. I got a launch from one of the friendly stunt kite flyers, as ... (more)

I followed Danno as he switched his 6m for his 5m. Wind line kept moving around. Closer to shore at the start, and about 2km out at the end. The swell direction and SW was such that it was tough for me to get close to CLover. There were some real deep troughs that my short stature had a hard time seeing out of. Tough to navigate the big swell with the fickle wind. When I did catch a flagged swell it was super sweet. After an hour the switched turned off, luckily I was nicely in the bay.

Arrived to very light winds but a promising forecast -- Danno and Jesse were rigging and feeling optimistic. I rigged my 7m and was just about to launch when the wind picked up significantly, so I quickly swapped the 7m for my 5.5m. First time on my Flow 235 stab, after riding the CF300 for the past 5 months, and it felt good! Challenging conditions with steep chop and lots of debris to avoid. After an hour the wind dropped completely, so Danno, Alain and I had a 20 min swim back to the beach. Good war ... (more)

Super fun day! T and T and his Posse arrived, ULR and Mrs. ULR and lots of peeps on the lake. 141 kms travelled but wind died before I could get to 150. Damn!! Good day. Lots of wind. Recovered a kiteboard and brought it back to the beach, saw the kite waaay downwind upside down so headed down to see if the kiter was okay. weird no one else was down to check or assist. Melissa was sitting on her kite and heading into the marina so I waited until she was on the beach and okay. Watched as she walked back alon ... (more)

Tried the Dragon Fly Surf out today with the Razor 980. Super nice light wind board. Caught a few nice rides and switched boards with Jesse for some nice sup sail action on the 10'0. Fun unexpected day.

Green forecast on both models with 17 kts on the early report for Entrance Island, sunny 20 deg C, good enough for a trip to Pipers. 10:00, Silver Seas, the old pine humming nicely, Juan was already out by the Hudsons. The start of a good session in tropical conditions. At low tide, surf rolled in the bay, 2 footers to play just off the beach. The local fin crew also showed up with foils :o "Now the times they are a-changin".

Sailed is Board Shorts! Three half hour sessions off the dock at Newcastle, every one better than the one before. Love the now wetsuit but definitely was still keen to stay dry for the most part. Really locking in the tacks now. Ready to get back to waves and smaller gear.

Launch at 1030 at Locarno and round Point Grey an hour later after a sweet upwinder. Over to Wreck Beach and the North Arm, but didn't stay due to the scetchy chop. Return reach to the bell buoy and down wave runs to the North edge of the sandbar up from Acadia. Awesome day!

Amazing day!!! Winged all day. 84kms on the Wing in 5 hours. Started on Big board, then tried small board again and it worked. Moved the foil all the way back in the box. Fun little board but tough to jibe. Tried going toe side coming out of the jibe with not much luck. Practiced on the little board for 2 hours then went back to the Big board and made 80% of my jibes. So much easier not falling each jibe. At one point this afternoon I was the only one on the lake at 3-4ish. Such a beautiful day. Body very s ... (more)

Went for one in the anchorage at Newcastle Island. Good for the first 10 mins then it died. At least the sail across the strait was good. No one out enjoying nice Pipers conditions when I went by around 1030 but sounds like some got it later on.

Pipers did not disappoint with moderate winds, warm temps, minimal tidal effect, and fine company with Idefix and SuperSam. First session was perfect with the 5m and proved the efficacy of my DIY retractable harness. Fun trying to follow Danno around in the swells. I tried to ride my 88L Code and HPS 930 in the second session, but failed. Lack of skill and enough wind. I went back to my beginner JPAus board and enjoyed chasing Danno around the bay. Cold bevys post ride was perfect closure.

Back to Pipers!
Favourable forecast on both models with 17kts at Entrance Island. 10:30 arrived to a silver sea, Sam scanning the horizon. Consistent 18kts for the first half fully powered on 5.0/1000cm. Bit choppy with the ebb flow, swell lines got more organized on the afternoon flood. Warm water (3-2 wetsuit), some seaweed at slack tide but very manageable. I followed Highrocker in the rollers north of Hudson Rocks. A significant drop in intensity by mid-afternoon sailed back to the point in dw ... (more)
