First time back on the water in a few weeks. Lots of time lost screwing around rigging different sail sizes before the wind settled into something a bit more consistent. Tried a few jumps. Some close, 1 landed. Some good swells but also some messy stuff off the point. Fun session.

Hadn't been out in a few weeks so felt a little rusty especially trying out my new front wing. The new foils are definitely feeling more refined, I like the speed and maneuverability, although it threw me off a few times, literally! One nice back flop still stings this morning. Looking forward to more sessions on this foil and can't wait to try out the Razor Pro 775 in some waves!

Up and down wind, chilly and weedy for the first half. Every time I switched to the smaller foil the wind dropped, argh. Then it finally steadied out with some beauty swell on the outside. The 880 has ridiculous glide and still turns well and feels way bigger than the 780 which is good. It will be perfect for the under 20kt days.

Sweet afternoon session at the Rock! Big swell to start on the incoming tide that slowly faded away as the wind slacked off towards 5PM. 5m was the charm and glad I got it right from the start. Good to see the usual suspects.

"Not quite my tempo"
Gusty afternoon on Ross Bay, from too much to ... Hovered between the 3m and the 5.0. The 4m was the tool of choice today (missing from my quiver :/
Fun swell and plenty of loose kelp for everyone :))

Got on it a little after 3, light on inside but looked good outside! Turned out to be windy and really nice big silver seas. The evil lurking kelp was particularly hard to spot until just the last moment, a few takedowns, over the bars, and sudden slowness. There were some epic big smooth rollers willing to take you all the way down to the corner if you dared. I did and 3 times went too deep into lull land but it was worth it! Lots of peeps on the pond. Repeat tomorrow please!

Epic Whistler weekend riding MTB with friends. Hopped on the ferry home and saw wind on the cam. Boogied back to grab gear for a quickie session on the Dfly before finally getting on my new Ginxu 62. Such a performance upgrade from the previous version. Longer, narrower, much much lighter (5lbs lighter!). Easy to start and gets going fast. Will throw straps on soon once foil placement is dialled. Kelp is baaaaaaaack. :(

The chats were waxing poetic over how good it was at RB, so I headed over there after a Willows session. Winds were variable and gusty, but there was some really nice swell at CLover level. I slowly got ready to go and may have taken a quick nap in the van, but soon joined the fray. I was going to follow the 4m crowd, but I saw a lot of slogging and the gusts were definitely variable. I went 5m and that was great for me in the nearshore, but much OP'd at CLover level. Fun swell and big gusts.

I joined Paulo, GregCan, G-Man, and Alain at Willows for some gusty goodness. Best winds were between MTI and the reef/Tea House. It was classic Willows gustiness with immediate lifts at the gusts and then a pump to stay up until you get to the next gust zone. Willows remains kelp free, so far. Tiring for a lazy pumper like me, but still fun in the sun regardless. Great to share the swells with the OGs.

Fun sesh, on it early(ish), much steadier wind than last time, full power on tap from start to finish.
A few fun turns with really nice smoothies in sections between the waves. Wind all day, Always sad to leave meat on the bone but needed to get right back into downtown for a meeting.

Got to RB late afternoon. Looks like people had already been out there for quite a few hours. Wind still looked good and tons of swell out past the point. some conflicting waves coming in from two angles, along with some nice clean rollers. Wind Became inconsistent and I was trying to chain puffs together. That was the indicator that it was time to leave. Short and sweet.

Light air session right off the back of the boat. Lots of pumping but a good way to spend a bit of time while the kids napped. Couldn't sail back to the boat because it was tucked in a windless hole, the wife let the dinghy go and I scooped as it drifted past in the breeze to end the session! No risk with a nice sandy beach downwind. Supposed to blow pretty good tonight and tomorrow morning so hoping for a good early morning session on the small foil. Rain held off the whole time. Gusty and challenging conditions at RB today. Arrived at noon to a lull and no one on the water. I rigged my 5.5 and launched with Grant, also on his new-to-him 5.5 Unit! As soon as I got away from the beach there was plenty of wind, and the waves were good sized off of Clover. I feel like I'm able to get on foil a bit more efficiently now, but my pumping technique still has a long way to go. All the kelp forced me to practice S-turns non stop, so I tried to think of that as a good thing. I came in fo ... (more)

Well, sometimes too much of a good thing.....
Wind came in hard, within a few minutes steady 20kts and gusting.
Got out and had some puckering sleigh rides - with a full gale in the forecast though, decided to call it quits before the surf exit became a complete shitshow.
Of course now that I'm in, looks like it's holding steady, and maybe i could have stayed out :-(

Out cruising at Jedidiah Island, anchored in Deep bay. Not enough wind to go strait from the boat and the current was ripping in the small pass just outside the anchorage so a dinghy ride to the wind was in order. Decided to go in the sheltered waters of Bull Passage as it was pretty full on to the east of the anchorage. Raining and no one else in sight other than the family on the boat. The rum and coke tasted good after and the wetsuit got a rain rinse.

Took time getting here, as it did it backed off immediately again. Took a seat & watched for a bit then it was on. Not as fully juiced as one would hope, 94 to 118/5.3 & kicked down again later. Pumped a bit much for my liking, Pork's n I milked it late. Decent sesh tho as waves were pretty nicely formed.

OSRs from Willows were uninspiring, so I checked RB on the way. And voila! There was 12-16 SE at RB and I told my Willows foiling agents that I would be staying at RB and encouraged them to join me. I quickly jumped in with my biggest wing and was foiling 30m from shore! Woo hoo! That lasted all of about 10min and 5 foiling runs. Then the min price for lifting was 20 pumps. Sadly, Jon joined as the winds lulled. Slogged back and noted the burgeoning formation of the kelp forest. Sigh.

Caught the tail end of the winds. Started strong but had to paddle in at the end. BWD timed it better and was off the water just in time. Fun session, decent swell and the first time I was on my short board in a while.

Went and checked out Willows, but access was tricky due to Tea Party. Almost launched at Cattle Point, but looked flat and not that windy. MrNorthSouth said IV was building, I had some time, so trekked up there for the first time in awhile, thanks for the OSR!! Great swell, wind was up and down, and like BWD said - lots of weeds. Serious question, how do people without straps get weeds off? I jump it off pretty much works every time.

Fairly windy when I arrived but slowly dropped over the session. Still fun with some good inside waves. The water was warm but the kelp and grassy bits were annoying.

Got a fun session in. Parked at Bowker so had to do an initial starboard tack towards the tea hut and quickly noticed i needed to dismount to get by the lurking concrete outfall. Once that was all accomplished i could get flying on port and to the outside. It was really flat and well powered on the outside so tried some speed runs, tried the back strap again(yech!), practiced tacks, jibes, 360s. It quickly died while outside so had a long sit schlog then paddle in to the beach. Got drenched changing into c ... (more)

Started on the new 5.5 strike. Nice wing with lots of drive and still light. Rode the 60L for the first time in a while and the corkiness of -5L to my weight is harder than the 39L by far. Missed carving the small board. Wind ramped up and Marty and Tuna showed up. Had to avoid the land mines of kelp but the steep waves on the bar all the way in were fun. Changed to the 4m and the waves got better. BWD out and Paul arrived when I was packing up.

Second time on the small board. First time with the big foil. Chop was a bit challenging, so I didn't get the mast positioned properly. Not the best day, but good to get out with Lance-a lot and The Captain (Morgan)

That was a gooder!
Nice consistent wind, was at the Spit proper so waves weren't too big, but still rideable.
Some weed patches but largely avoidable- unlike last night!
Several kiters and one other wingding also playing with me on the outside.
Hopefully another session this afternoon.

Windy was pretty much on target, wind was on by 2:30, had a fun session in the mixed sun. Few weeds and the tide was upper and slack, on shore but ok, easy to get going. First time for me at the spit, really liked the silky white sand, so that was cool, 3 wingers and a windsurfer. Wind was still on when I left at 5:30. '?

Pretty poor OSRs from the usual venues, so I thought I'd try something a bit closer to home and try to buzz the Navy frigates that I used to serve on. Sadly, I picked 5 when I should have went 6. Onshore made it tough to get out. The loose and rooted kelp and unfamiliarity with the location increased the difficulty. Wind was light and not as carveable as I like it. Regardless, I've ticked that location and it's worth a return if the conditions are favourable. Cool to try new places!
