Started out on the 60L and played in the small swell. Wind came up a bit and decided to try out the 39L Armstrong. A lot easier than I thought it was going to be and really nimble and fun. Straps and hucking it coming up next.

What a day in the bay! Great waves with a big ebb tide making the upwinds short and the runs long. The breeze started way south and with the big ebb tide I decided to sail up to Brochie Ledge, I managed to get up there with only spending about 5 minutes on starboard. The downwinder back was nice and warm with big steep waves kicked up by the ebb. Played in the waves on the outside for another hour or so, using the escalator to get upwind as the breeze slowly built. Finished the session working on tacks on t ... (more)

Lots of SW at first so headed way upwind and saw my watch had stopped. All that distance for nothing. Did some speed runs, then the wind clocked more W and waves jacked up to 2ft. Fun day.

Fabulous session wind was a little soft first 20 min then got good. Could have been on 4 at the end. Some longish almost flagged out downwinds. Used the wind into shore and flat water to practice jibes. Figured out I was not centred enough. I can weight the opposite rail and carve downwind but as soon as the apparent wind drops I loose the edge and carve the opposite way or overbalance and fall to the inside trying to force the rail down but without enough leverage. Moved my feet inboard and started to get ... (more)

Arrived to about 12-15kts. J-Dog said it wasn't enough for his 7m and foil so we both went out on 10m. It built over the next hour until I was overpowered so decided to switch to twin tip. The wind stayed somewhere between 20 and 22 so it was light but still pretty fun. Great to see tweezer doing his rounds and bringing cheer to the west side.

Arrived early with Danno out sitting on his board at the point fish watching. MtnarG was watching Danno watching fish with his 8m rigged and ready to go. It looked light but doable so I riggd the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer a.k.a. "The Session Saver". Headed out and was foiling fairly quickly. It started to pick up after 30 mins but I kept on the 7.0m as I was too lazy to come in and try the Wing or rig down because I only had another hour and then had to beat it. In over my head!
Hard sailing today, gusty, fast swell on a strong tide. The first few crashes convinced me to rush back for the helmet. Fully powered on the 3m for just over an hour. Wind dropped late afternoon and I called it a day. It ramped up again in time for the evening shift. Session debrief with HRock and Tuna. Thanks for the refreshments Ang!

Used pretty much every toy I have for this session. Started blowing hard 25+ knots. Went out on a 4.2 wing and was way over powered. Came in for the 3m but wind started to die as I got on the water. Grabbed the 4 again and played for about 30 min then it got lighter again so came in for the DW board and got some more time in. Lightened up again and came back in for a bigger foil and wing and squeezed another 20 out of it. At that point I was getting tired and making silly mistakes so called it quits. ... (more)

Saw the wind start and build quickly so dashed down to the bay. It was already cranking when i arrived, peeps on 3-4ish! Thought i would err on the big side so went with 4m. At times op'd but generally good call. Some nice flagged out runs from Clover down towards the corner. It began to get twitchy and marginal for the 4 so headed in. Hung around waiting for it to return, but by the time it did i was already chilled so called it a day.

Fun late afternoon session in White Rock! The wind went from zero to 20 knots in no time and the swell ramped up quickly. The temperature dropped quickly and the rain did not help. Starting to feel chilled after an hour , and the wind started to back off anyway. Fortunately the rain stopped for the pack-up. Good to see the White Rock regulars including Chalmers and Atlon. Nice debrief with IPA!

Morning Session in warm sun. Tide getting too low to wing foil so decided on nostalgia warm low tide session on Flite 17m and twin tip.
Fun going along the sand bank tide line in the Easterly.

I was going home after checking RB and finding nothing. But, stopped at a red light I noticed the tree branches dancing. Back at RB, stuff was starting to build. I followed Idefix into the fray, but quickly turned back as I approached the point. Just too much for my limited skills. I stayed in the bay. Probably should have switched to ny 4m, but too lazy. Regardless, got some short flag outs and lots of fun carves in the ridiculous high powered winds. Not sure why, but my GPS only tracked for 20min.

Arrived to nuking conditions, decided to wait until the wind was in the low 30's rigged the 5m and headed out. As soon as I was on the water the wind continued to decrease and I couldn't get upwind to Cook St so stayed around the spiral staircase. There was a few times when I decided I should head in but then a gust of wind would hit and convinced me to stay out just a bit longer. It wasn't until it started nuking again that I decided it was time to call it, just as the sun was breaking to the north, ... (more)

To my surprise I arrived to a busy launch area, I think there was seven of us at one point. It feels a bit different foiling in fresh water, like the water is less dense or something, maybe I'm imagining it.....Good wind until the end. Nice to not need to rinse the gear when I got home.

I think I got lucky showing up when I did. It looked like it was turning on and off without any consistency on RB cam. Decided to scream over to RB to see for myself and boom'went out on a 4 m for five minutes and came back to get the 3 m. Was still overpowered and very gusty but managed to get some excellent swell for a while. Definitely some flat areas and then some big 'troughey'rollers. Foiled it all the way back to the beach just before the wind dropped. Plaisir'.

Started on the 4 and was quickly overpowered. Went in for the 3 and was still overpowered! Stayed close to shore while some serious gusts came through, last half hour was great, good sized rollerz off the point.

Only went to White Rock expecting to test my repaired 8m kite in marginal wind ... Instead I was rewarded with an epic wave session in true SW 20-25 on 8m+surfboard with Jeff 9m+TT, Sean 9m+TT, Chalmers 11m+TT and James winging. 2 hrs (4-6pm) of super steady wind and clean waist high waves. Thank you Jeff for the celebratory beers.

Crazy wind day! I had a hunch the first wind spike was more of a squall and indeed it dropped as soon as I got the 4m pumped up, from about 30 to 15, then when I got the 5m pumped up and out there it died to zero. Sat and waited then started getting some North. After a while filled into 20-25 which was nice to get flying on the 999 for the first time. Realized it was more the short fuse I was probably getting used to, a bit like a rodeo for a while, then got better. Felt so nice and fast downwind, too ... (more)

Checked willows in the am but too light and variable. Did lots of chatting with the crew. Waited for the W to fill in. Didn't have to wait too long. Wind was solid to start and then got a little sketchy dropping to 16 at Ogden with reliable puffs blowing by Clover. Then it turned back on for the finale!

Well, while generally fun, this sport can also be incredibly frustrating!
Like today- trying to get out, wind not super strong yet ( forecast to be building) but SHOULD have been enough- but the large patches of the annoying sargassum weed seemed to grab the foil whenever a puff came - made for lots of pumping, lots of cursing, but not a lot of moving '?
Then when I did finally work my way out of it and got foiling, the wind died off.
Caught a puff and thought i should foil back to the beach while I c ... (more)

It's true. Not proud of it, but but loss of my parking spot drove me to red hot foil rage that had me trying to ram Bobson head on! Luckily, his fighter-pilot level maneuvering skill saved the day and avoided my ruining a fantastic foiling day. Gorgeous power centred on the yellow buoy. I had fun chasing Bobson and Tweezer to capture their greatness on GoPro. RDog was coming just as my play time was running out. Loved the warm sunshine and solid winds at the cow ranch the past couple of days.
