Forecast was poor, but a bit of thermal was enough for the really talented light wing foilers. Launch was tricky with the wind directly onshore. Idefix was rockin it. I was schlogging it. I had a brief bit of glory, but mostly struggled. The water is the warmest I've seen here. Most people in shorts (no wetsuit required). Very nice first day here.

The afternoon breeze saved the day. Happy I brought my big foil (session saver), I found suitable wind and some caps a good km out. Played in that windline for the duration. Light conditions but made it work with the 6.2. No need for a wetsuit here. Cool to sail past a sea turtle. Hoping for more wind today.

Another sweet 2hr session on the 5m and 1350cm2!
Warm and comfortable hands in the 7mm Xcel mitts. Nice with the soft handles as you can leave your grip almost flat as you wedge your hand into the side of the handle where it meets the strut. No chance to do that with a hard handle.

Lots of west so had to paddle out. Sailing the repaired 5.0 thanks Paul @ Leitch McBride, for great repair and quick turnaround. Found I had to stay in the gusts, still able to put down a few 'speed runs' wind started to fade, so paddled in.

Followed Paul's lead into the CP winds, Nicely powered, particularly in the middle of the entrance. GMan was out there, rup-dog came out later, and there was a non-winger far off in the distance. I think I got some nice video captures of GMan and Paul. Warmer than I expected and the sun was glorious.

Pipers just does not disappoint, even when the winds are a mediocre (for Pipers) 15-20kts. One of the gustier PL days. Sunshine, warmish. Gusts and holes in the bay. Steady, swelly, scary (for me), on the outside. Idefix was rippin' long flagged out runs and Juan was fast on his DW board. I went out there a few times and it wasn't so bad. I was roller-coasting reaching up and down the swells. Pretty cool swell play for me! Great to meet Juan!

Lame getting there, -1 @the Creek castle so I searched for gloves, bloody reno! Heater on, I finally got there watching Nan Dave lit on his 4.7 kit. Rigged same & 94, lovely sesh. My damn psoas was far from 100% so I was sailing on eggshells! Still caught a ton w/ Rainbow & later his 3 sibs showing off. Dave went for tiny quad stick. So sunny I had trouble reading waves, when it kicked down it was near 10deg, warm, derigging dry sails! Awesomeness

short frustrating session in dying (temporarily) wind and largeish swell. Especially since it took 4 or 5 attempts to get out through the break. Trying to jump on a floaty board, in a floaty drysuit, with the wing yanking back is exhausting!
Wind died a bit, then rebuilt as soon as i hit the beach, but by then was too exhausted to go back out.
Several dog walkers were learning new curse words!

Super fun waves even with a bit of lumpiness. Cruised around on the 890 BSC for half the session decided to try spitfire again was frustrated and dissapointed at first but learned I just need to ride more aggressively much faster and have to keep the speed up and pay attention ,starting to see the potential, much more fun the more I got used to it.

Gorgeous 2 sessions with Greg and Paul. Bobson came in later and rode out of CP. I was too chicken to exit the bay with the offshore winds to join him. The usual gusty, holey Willows character conditions. Routinely OP'd with the 6.2m, but it let get through the holes on foil. Just missed Gautam's afternoon session. I may have missed the RB epicness, but I gained some Willows sweetness. Gybers' paradise. Sadly I forgot to switch on my GPS for 2nd session.

Back in the old windsurfing days I would have headed west. So great to score a killer wave sesh right in town on the foil. Good sized swell and all the way to the beach for a while. Could have been on the 2.5 but 4.0 was needed in the 20 knot lulls. I need a smaller board, or maybe a longer one. Talented crew out and BWD too.

Sweet swell day! Started early, sagged, and returned. Pumped up the 3.5, put it away only to pull it out again an hour later. Waves were long and smooth on the inside. Bigger and closer together on the outside with flotsam and jetsam.

Was on the second shift today arriving at 11:30ish. Wind was in between 3.5 and 5m and somewhat offshore. Lots of peeps seemed to be wrapping up their session. Went with the 3.5 and passed on gloves as it seemed warm. Both were a good call, wind was touch and go for the first 45 mins, and then ramped up to nearly overpowered. On the water early and was just some kiters upwind for the first while. Lit on the 4 outside and nice pow to carve up. Came in for the 3 and she dropped after one reach so ended with a paddle in. Chatted on the beach and went back out on the 4 for some solid wind and swell then had to call it.

Got there for the early session just as the wind dropped. Had fun on the big board and 3.5 until the wind picked up. Came in to swap boards and the waves jacked up to fun sized. Lots of beautiful people out today and Shaggy too.

Arrived at 9am to the lull and everyone regrouping from their 3m sessions. Chatted a bit then it seemed to be coming back so rigged big (5.5). Well that lasted 1 run out/in to get the 4m as it was cranking on the outside and big waves were moving in too! Overall a really fun day once i shook off the cobwebs and settled in to a bit of a groove. There were some very nice swell rides inside the normal lanes. Some unusually large waves too! Took my daughter out for breaky so later start for me. I saw that "Goat Hill" was full and RB was wavy so decided to hit CP and sail on the outside of Willows. Lots of sailboats racing and a couple Wings in closer to Willows which I couldn't get close to as the wind was super gusty inside with lots of holes, wind was a bit steadier on the outside. Sweet Sunday session! All the usual suspects plus wind. Swam out to the wind line in glassy swell after brief rain shower. 5m with the 1350cm perfect combo! Not a lot of swell, a little wood in the water, but no weeds! Up to Acadia slowly working to windward. Wore down vest under the dry suit, warm day!

First time at Pat Bay. Tyler and AJ had already been on the water for awhile when I arrived. Excellent session for me. Flat water, steady wind, warm sunshine. I made a bunch of gybes because the conditions were so good. Wind was a bit light when I arrived. It picked up after about 15 min and I was overpowered for most of the time on the water. The high tide was good as very little walk required.

It was barely WSW 15 but James and Adam made it work on their wings ... then Mike (wind foiling) and I (12m+surfboard) caught the tail end. Short session but worth the smooth shoulder high swell. Kinda spooky to ride with minimal bar pressure but the "powder" like conditions made it worthwhile.

Big thanks to Grant (Mount Narg?) for showing up right when it dropped and I had given up with the 5m. He was going out on the 8m, and I wasn't just going to let him go out solo, so I pumped up the 6.5. Good thing! It rebounded to upper teens, fairly steady about halfway out of the bay. Perfect for the 6.5. I love the Slicks. Need to replace the DD with a new Slick. DD up for sale soon. Made for a great additional hour or so.
