Got out at the ferry terminal this morning. Steady 20 knots, few kites and wings out, nice flat water practice! 3.5 wing with the 799 Balz Pro, probably broke my speed record but didn't have the GPS on. Had to be careful if you came too close to shore the weeds would stop you dead, had a few nice crashes and a bit of a swim/walk back through the weeds.

Day 7...Repeat of yesterday, just a little less wind. Rough ride at first but seas straightened out a fair bit and great downwind swell riding. Can we make it 8 in a row? We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Another short-but-sweet session. More confused than yesterday -- the seas, that is. Still some fun port ramps. Good workout. Lots of boat traffic. Steady wind. Smoky skies. Wingers everywhere! I was the lone slappy boarder out there until DavidM took over. Water so warm people were swimming in their bikinis and speedos!

Meh. Had the straps off the board from a previous session. Bad plan. The swing weight made it a circus. Went out later on the 120 Airbolt, but the wind had eased. Played with the wing for a bit on the lake monster sup. Wing mechanics ok.

Arrived when the other wingers were coming off the water. First thoughts were I should have stayed in Tsawwassen but after a bit it started to fill back in. Had to get out to the wind line but once out there I was lit on the 3.5m wing. Super fun session, the swell picked up and I got some nice rides. Then it really started to crank, probably 30 knots on the outside and the waves got disorganized. Had trouble keeping things under control so I called it. Really glad I came down. Thanks to fishes for windtel. 4.0 was a bit UP way outside but perfect at the headland venturi. Had some good floaty jumps - great ramps. Ended session on a high note (I literally let out a wahooooo!) with a one-onethousand-two-onethousand-threeone-I-can-see-my-house-from-here jump. So fun!

Same as the other day but less windy. More stinky at stink bug today. Maybe too much time on the 3m? and should have swapped to the 4m. Too many wipeouts, went back to the Armstrong 88L, 4m wing, and HA1125 to finish out the day. So lovely not to be bobbing in the water the majority of the time and flaying. Will try again. Dropping 28L on board volume is humbling.

Did an hour of high powered goodness in an empty bay. Swells beyond the rock were occasionally head high! At least my short head. Still a bit scared to venture too far out. I'll eventually get over it. Second session was a lot more work as the winds diminished. Mostly played in the gust zone close to shore and made sine waves. Lovely tropical flying with Paul and Idefix!

After the last week of having enough carrots dangled in front of me to choke a horse with these forcasts for NW wind I finally got what I was waiting for. Not as good as predicted but the tide was perfect and the wind actually came in while I was there to sail it. Spent the first hour on the 96 in Waves that were amazing as I was surrounded by Green roofs (as Udder says). I actually had to ride down closer to Rathtrevor where Kus always says the waves are best because, well, they were. Had it all to myself ... (more)

Late session surprised me with some foilable winds after cancelling ou on a morning Piper's session. Got 45 min of gusty Willows goodness and got lots of gybe practice and S-Turn fun. Then the wind switch went to OFF and I was in drift mode. It was so lully that I pulled out my emergency paddle and stroked the remaining 200m to shore.

    Crazy windy day. 35+ knots

    Wind started blowing at 9am

Started on 5m was over powered. 4m was over powered. 3m was over powered. Went back to the 4m later in the day when it died down a bit. Still overpowered. Fun day. Most wind I've ever winged in

Thought i was on it early (4pm) as I spied it ramping up on the cams, drive down only to find I had left my foil tools at home and there's no one else there yet! Went home, came back and it was way better than advertised, 4m weather, nice looking waves forming, only 1 winger out (Tugboat??). It really came in with a push of nice swell from 2/3 to mid-bay down to St.Charles corner. Lots of debris and kelp up near the point and not as nice wave formation. Eventually, the usual suspects (Tweezer, Windoc, Rup ... (more)

Just happened to have the time so I thought I'd go quickly check out to see if any wind even though forecasts weren't great. I arrive to a solid 20 knots blowing right to the beach and I'm the only one there. I decided to go out on a 5m because it felt too good to be true. Solid wind. Great swells. I stuck to the 5m from a combination of laziness and security. I was definitely overpowered 60% of the time. Fine.

It was solid when I got there and so rigged a 4.0 but it had softened by the time I launched

So had my wing. Figured out it was too soft to pump and came back to check the valve (loose) and pump it back up. It really shut down. Long wait chatting and winddoc pulled the plug and it immediately started to look better. It filled in enough to foil to the outside and then slog and swim back in.

Two wings out after sunset one needed nav lights

I waffled about going down figuring the wind would be weird given how warm it has been. And then I remembered that when I do that I should just go, since life is short. I am glad I did as it was a proper gale and an excellent session with some fun big swell. I was the first to arrive but Rob C. showed up soon enough and he and I had the place to ourselves for a good while. Tony showed up and joined us for a while. I literally wore myself out with all the swell slashing that was on offer. As much as I ... (more)
