Arrived late to a large crowd and no parking. Wind was pumping so decided to go twin tipping. It died after about 30min and came in to switch to a foil. Almost immediately the wind came back and I went out again on the twin tip with a couple of others until it got too dark to see. The wind was super lofty when it was on and it was a great evening for jumping.

Rinse and repeat of yesterday but much stronger, longer duration (10 am - 8 pm?) wind, and bigger waves at peak. Stink bug starts were harder in the bigger waves but kept plugging away. Later evening session around 7-8 pm was easier in smaller waves with the Nexen 4m. Got a left foot strap on the 60L board but there is only a single centre line of insert holes. I think this is the same as the Armstrong wing board but I was fitting on some old Fanatic straps (came with the Sky Wing) but I don't think tho ... (more)

Was initially way overpowered, managed to finally dial it in around the 30min mark before the wind decided to lull. Worked my way in when I got caught up in the kelp around Clover Point. Good to see so many people out.

Missed this log from Wednesday. Trying session on a beautiful day. Low tide and wind peaked as I was heading to the water, powered up to past the old kitesurfing launch, then died. Walked up the sand bar to dog beach. Waited another 1/2 hr before it came back enough to get back to Jericho pier. Anti-climactic.

My other half is "on foil" but still working on upwind progress. So I sail upwind on the Sky Wing, past Elevation, and she gets long reachs, w/o the need to sail upwind, although she is getting really close.
Short session on 60L with Nexen 4m wing. Stink bug starts are easier at Nitinat with the consistent wind but am still learning this technique, and balance on this board. Made it to the lagoon in record time from Victoria by 7 AM. Lots of puffs in the bay with whitecaps further out. Went out first on the HPS 980 with a 5m which was a good idea. Lots of holes in the wind coverage. Gusty. Flipped over to Greg's Operator 1050 (thanks Greg) for my second demo halfway through the session. The wind was lighter than yesterday. i got on it slowly and had to re-rig before i even hit the water as the wind seemed to be dropping, The early crew had returned to the beach and were wait for the wind to re-surface. The wind did come back and the 5.5/big board still worked out great. Some upwind action and swell riding back down wind. Some swell lines allowed multiple turns...fun!!!.
Great after sail debriefing/beers. Kus, thank for the cold Beck's tall boy to finish the day off perfectly.

Have been waiting for the stars to line up for me with Pipers for many moons. Reminiscing of my first real airtime on my Alpha 160 f that I bought with my saved up paper route money in about1986. Felt about the same exhilaration today. Was nice to be able to share that with my boys and the rest of the crew. So fortunate.
