Day one at CC! Arrived at 11am, said Hi to Kus and Jelly and headed out on the big board and 1000 front foil and 5.2m Flyer. Sunny and very warm. Foiled in shorts and no sleeve Rashy, so nice! Put in 50kms then came in and set up camp and had lunch. Went back out on the 4.5m Flyer as it had picked up to 20kts. Did another 30kms and came in for the 5.2m again as it had dropped. Wind had lots of lift in it and was ~40%-60% depower on the strap at times. Most people on 7m/8m/9m/10m. If this good today, it will be hard to leave early to try the hatchery by the river. Will see.

Huge wind shadow that didn't ever really pop. Big swim out and back but fun conditions on the outside. Probably could have gone with the 5.5 but no complaints with the 7m. Even managed a few Heineken gybes with it but didn't feel the same increase in efficiency I noticed on the smaller wings.

Was tired of never trying the Hatchery when it is right beside here, so I decided to drive by and see where people launch. Definitively NOT at the actual hatchery, lots of building and no water, smell fishy to :(

Homesteaded at Long Beach today and watched the south wind rotated through to side-off NW. Vancouver winger on 7 m cruised the bay until it shifted NW (that made the winger come in and made me get ready to go out). Took to the water about 4:30 pm on an ebbing tide of about 2 metres. Good sesh. Went 6.2, then 5.0, felt too light so up to 5.7 and that worked well. Really tring to refine the planning posture, almost got the back foot into the strap, even did an accidental body drag for about 2-3 seconds lol. It all felt like progression at least. Hopefully back this weekend.

Rigged big with the 9m and foil, managed to get about one jib in when the wind died and resulted in a short swim back. The most interesting part of the evening was watching a family try and park a 29ft Rental RV into a Clover Pt parking spot without smashing the cars either side of it.

Filled in just after I got there. Only Tweezer and I. First time rocking the foot straps. Went much better than I thought it would. Front straps were in the right place. Back strap was awkward and tricky to get into but was out the way for wave riding. 3 port tack jumps landing safely on butt and 2 starboard, with one board ejection mid air. Pretty stoked to start working on airs. Also pulled off a toe side tack. Fun wave rides off the point. Great sesh!

Seems like it filled into shore just when I arrived. Shaggy was waiting for it at the point. We both went out and were joined by OR Richard. Played in the swell and then moved up to the point where the swell started to build. Played in the slop for about an hour. Then the wind started to drift in and out. Scared us into shore. FFFun! - no track forgot watch.

Was dreaming of a coast trip but an iffy wind forecast and micro swell made the long drive seem hardly worth it so settled on the Gorge. Nice to be back on the water regardless. Lots of lulls initially then built in around 4pm for a good hour of fun 4.7. Wow these alternate windsports sure destroy windsurfing in light air. I might have to add to my quiver.

The Willows webcam looked like it was worth a try. But it wasn't. I got 4 -5 short, very pumpy runs. Juice not worth the squeeze. Nice sunshine, though!
Willows kelp free days are also over. Sad ending to a sweet foiling July that gave me 21 flight days. Sigh....

First day of the season at Nitinat. Was a little anxious at first as a result of flat glass conditions at 10:30. I should have known better. Almost gale level winds by 11 o'clock. Big long session spending a lot of time focussed on turns. Excellent day to build on skills. Gratitude. Acknowledging Ditidaht First Nations for allowing us to enter their traditional territory to experience learning and wonder.
