Well that was disconcerting for a while. Launched with a new mast position, new impact vest and a windsurfing harness fitted with a new hook. For the first time in a long while, I didn't check the tether attachment to the board. One trip out and back with the harness needing adjustment, got that sorted and went out again. Tangled with a couple of patches of kelp, thought i was through and realized i was trailing some. Cleared that, restarted and realized detached fronds were wrapped on my board leash. ... (more)

Another fantastic session, sharing woo hoos with Bobson, Paul and many others. Lots of new folks I did not recognize. The wind was lightish but good enough for the small 6m. Kelp still annoying. Swell was nice enough and got a few semi-flagged runs. Practiced jibing in the messy swells with some success. Graet summery fun on the water. Really appreciating these fine wind days now that I can't get out as often. So fun!

Happy to get out since it was super light when I arrived. Choppy and currenty mayhem but the wind was decent. West of Clover the wind was really South and it felt like I could have sailed to Esquimalt. Got to see Bobson and a whale today, so that was nice.

Nice weather and a little more time today but not much wind. Sailed 3km west to 1km East of Dundarave on back eddies then turned and got sucked back to Hollyburn Sailing Club in ~30 minutes. There is a Coho (i think) run and big Salmon are jumping like crazy. On the morning ebb tide they were jumping a mere 50ft from shore.

Session #3 on the parawing. Got up and riding easily enough today, made some jibes, ok upwind, tried packing the parawing away unsuccessfully and then the wind died. Each session a little better. Light winds are no bueno with the parawing. Had to paddle in. Can't wait for the magic, hands-free riding to begin! Looks like wind came back after I left.

Was lucky to make it out for a session in-between work. Little light at first on the 3.5, but it ramped up and was nicely powered for 2/3 of the session.

Stayed up at clover point dodging kelp, surfing and launching off some punchy ramps. Helped a kiter in distress for about 10 mins and the good karma seemed to help me land a few elusive 360's. Not sure why most of the crowd was sailing further into the bay, but nice not have any traffic to avoid.

I think that I am not the only one that wanted a proper windy day, it has been a while. It was busy at the point today, I usually rely on my Irish luck to get a choice parking spot but that did not work out for me today. So I stopped in the middle of the road and put my hazard lights on and unloaded my gear and then went and parked off away. The wind was quite westerly and my self launch worked well. I did a looong walk on the windward side beach of Clover to start my session, the shore was full of wood ... (more)

Beautiful afternoon after what was a chilly and grey Pipers session at Pipers on Saturday. Some kelp but avoidable and otherwise clean. Some nice set swells providing great, fast rides. Second session on the new AFS gear. Still working on figuring out the right setup. Started with where I'd left off on Saturday but found it too lifty upwind and a little scary on the bigger waves DW. A beautiful bay day with a good sized crowd on it early. Started off with some board caddy duties for daughter Zoe. She and bf Sean's first times at RB! Spent about an 1hr running the board back upwind to starting point above the outfall. After she was done, got the me playtime in the juicy wave swell and warm westerly. Some great long flagged surf runs as they really held their shape and power for the full distance of the bay. So fun, love this place! short gps didn't turn on till later

Wow! I needed that sweet RB goodness after more than 2 weeks without flight! Nice power and swells and bay vibe in the sunshine. Fantastic happy wingers everywhere! Lots of wind in the bay. I should've used the 4m, but I had to test out the newly repaired 5m. Good enough in the bay, but too much beyond the point and the +20kt winds. Stayed out there just long enough to catch the rollers and admire the dance of the elite foilers. Sweet carving fun!

Great day! Felt like summer conditions. Should have been on the smaller ART Pro foil but I was having too good a sesh to waist time coming in for a gear change. Beauty peaky waves that linked up nicely for long rides. 3.5 is so effortless compared to the 5.0 behemoth. Bring on the south easterlies. Happy 1001 to Morley.

Managed to salvage a session after driving back from Bellingham this weekend. Took the mid length out first and had some fun runs before coming in for the Dfly in the lighter winds. Everyone packed up and left and I was solo for a bit with the wind returning to powered up levels. Still getting some confidence back but feeling better and better. The Dfly makes getting on foil so easy.

Sweet steady wind after 11 AM launch. Drive upwind to the second pill box in Pacific Spirit park for an hour then back downwind for an hour. Felt dialed in! The wind shifted offshore and I was back on dry land. '?

Just saw my 1000 session log went by without me noticing! Started out nicely powered on 4.0, got a few long runs downwind pretty much flagged out. After a while it got really hard to foil again, went in and pumped it up, stayed in and it only lasted 10 minutes. Found two streams of bubbles. Decided to try 5.0 inside. Foil out till see some kelp, jibe, restart, in to beach and jibe. Lent my gear to Grantmac, who came in saying the foil needed to go WAY forward and maybe a shim. I'd already moved it way ... (more)

    Pipers Classic!

Green forecast on both models with 20 kts on the early report for Entrance Island. Game On! Light start on the 5.0 for five minutes and back in for the 4m. No need to venture too far out today, good intensity and clean swell lines just outside of Clark Rk. Another sail change to 3m for peak conditions early afternoon. Local and South Island smiles mixing it up :))
