Classic Willows gusty carnage and variable winds. Paul looked like he was slogging on a 5m, so I got out in my 6mX3 and quickly found that I was OP'd. Switched to 4mX3 and that was great in the gusts and poor in the holes and lulls. Winds around MTI got pretty big. With flat water and lots of wind, it was a perfect gybe practice day - always lots of power waiting for you. Did repeated sine waves to build that muscle memory. Getting used to managing the gusts and all that power made for some sweet carves. Aw ... (more)

Pretty windy when I pulled up so threw on the 810. Felt sluggish. Been spoiled by the glide of the 1099. I think that's the last time I rock the 810. Retired. Spitfire on the way. So switched to 1099 and found some swell way out there.

Nothing sculpts a kidney stone like pre-session pizza! I knew I'd regret it'
Little late for this wind probably, was really up and down with mostly down. The 5m DD is such a heavy awkward beast when underpowered so definitely should have had the 6.5 Slick instead which is also lighter. But worked well enough. Teflon tape on the fill valve threads did the trick on the leaky strut and did a soap test to make sure. Putting my journeyman plumbing skills to work.

Sent Sharon and Luke out first as I'm trying to buiild up Sharon's (and Luke's) TOW. She went out with the 5.0 and held it down no problem while Luke was on the 4.7. They came in after an hour for a break and I noticed a hole in the 5.0. Luke quit and gave winging a brief try, thanks to Joey, and Sharon went back out on the 4.7. I sat on the beach till 4:30 and didn't feel like rigging the 5.3. Should have. Wind lightened up and I could barely make the 4.7 work but managed some good planing runs so at least ... (more)

Now confirmed: 1 x Ned on a 9m yesterday would have been able to "parakite" by the cliff. Or 1 person that weight 175lbs-185lbs on a 12m (between 1400 and 1645). Smaller kites are better for these loft since they turn faster, you can work your way up and down easier. Should have used the 18m, but oh well was a fun session nonetheless, just didnt expect that updraft on the 12m near the cliff (nothing like the 18m due to being undrpower, but a few pendulum/swing, or static pause.)

Arrived to big wind, rigged up the 4m. Debris fields everywhere, kelp islands, eelgrass, and lots of sticks and wood chunks. Especially messy near Clover. Wildly diverse conditions today. Got to RB and it was definitely 4m winds. Jumped in wetsuit and zipped up - and broke the zip due to my fatness. Switched to other wetsuit and as I was getting in with my 5mX3, WindJunky was getting out to switch to his 5m due to diminishing winds. Switched to my 5m and easily got on foil. Then the winds got bigger and was OP'd, but that was tolerable. Got some nice swell rides, got a few swell jibes, and had numerous KICs (Kelp Induced Crashes). Lots of loose big stuff, lot ... (more)

Arrived to the van back door getting ripped out of my hand, so pumped the 3. By the time I was in my wetsuit, the door opened without potential drama (like taking out a toddler in a stroller). I got the 3 foiling but needed a bit more balance support from the wing in the lumps outside. Came in and exchanged for 4. So much drift kelp beds and stray bits on top of the growing stuff made it sort of stupid. And chunks of wood. Wind died abruptly. Good beach talks. Stayed to see Pepe go out and back a coupl ... Adventure session with two martys and a tom. First half logistically challenging, too much flood current, big chop, op, just barely able to hold position. Then after witnessing tk's upwind mastery went back out with 3m and ha120 and it was game on. Unreal swell. Fog started to feather in at end. Intense. I am sore and tired. Oh and another canopy hole in my 4m to go with yesterday's LE rip :-(

Arrived at Clover to a nuking wind around 27kts. Always excited when I can pump up the 5m and foil. After playing on the Ross Bay side headed over the Cook St. The seas were rough and choppy, not the most pleasant ride, came in as the wind started to die. Overall a fun session on sunny Sunday afternoon. Good to see Adrian as I was heading out.

6m + surfboard didn't last long so switched to 8m to work on tacks with Alton Jr. I didn't land any but got some tips from her. Next time I'll try carving upwind faster by pushing my back foot as I unweight the front foot ... ie. pivoting the surfboard. Also I was told to send the kite to 12 o'clock much slower.

More normal day, bigger swell downwind, fun rides at times, windsurfers outnumber kites and wings at this location. Fun day , Alex liked yesterday better.

Dawn patrol, 6am launch. Mostly overpowered, again, but took advantage of it on an up wind leg to Lilly Point. Some swell due to the tide rushing out against the wind direction. New playlist on the shuffle:) A few weeds, but nothing insurmountable.

Well powered on the 4m for the first hour, switched to a Slick 5.0 to use up all that late swell. Good crowd out.

Hardest session in a while. From 5 knots to 25 knots and gusty. Should of had my 90 cm mast on but rigged the 84 for the low wind start. Felt like i was working hard to make it happen. Needed to be more aggressive on my gibes as well.

First time out in a few weeks. Felt great for the first 5 minutes then it tanked and I had a kelp wrestling session near the point as I tried to sail back in. Beach talk then de-rigged the 4.0 while waiting for wind to return. Filled in after a 45min lull and I landed up rigging the same sail again. Fun hour blasting around with some nice swell. Some jumps landed, some jumps crashed.
