Surprisingly good session. Timed the low about right, hit the water at 11:00, with good wind for almost two hours before things lightened up. Nanoose did it's thing and at the squeeze upwind from the highway pullout the wind was definitely stronger by a few knots then what registered at Entrance today.
Ripping back and forth on the big gear. So nice to be out after a couple weeks off the water due to work and family. No time for roadtrippin' to the lake and not much local wind lately. Only complaint was ... (more)

:D Finally some nice June wind compared to the four days of August type wind at Cook St.! Really warm, smooth and basically perfect wind, until it backed off around 8:00. The 10m rise once again shone brightly!
Took Reuben's kite for a quick spin after the wind dropped.

Looked like it was really going to crank when we got there. But it backed off a bit so we put the small stuff back in the truck. No complaints as we were totally powered on the 4.7s. Lots of bob and weave practice. Only almost ran into ur once, that would be hard to explain. No parking attendants in attendance. Lots of fans watching from the parked cars on the jetties. Even ur and I are heroes in Port. Ur even cleared the log out of the boat launch for the good citizens of Port. Nice and warm 8)

Lots of lifty wind along the shore again. The flags along the shore were flying with an "up" angle, interesting.
OR should have waited and called the 10m Rise, "The One Kite!"

:D Took a short break after kiting, then because I can't relax when the wind is still blowing I went out on the already rigged 78/4.7. A bit light for the small gear so I switched to the big gear when Kristina took a break. That felt like driving a tank after the small gear and kiting. :lol:
Kristina got at least 3.0 TOW each day, the most for her ever. Sailing great and just about making jibes on the far side. :D :
A record 5 days for me this week...I'm exhausted!! 8)

:D Marine layer was slow to break so the wind didn't fill till around 3. Took out the 10m and Kristina on the 93/5.8. Wind was still quite light and holey so I had to work the kite to try and stay upwind but I soon found myself smack in the middle of the windsurf zone. Didn't feel like ditching and self-rescueing so I kept going, ducking and weaving amongst the fleet of windsurfers...hope I didn't annoy anyone...but I felt in control the whole time. The ultimate folly - a day trip to Nitinat from the Mainland. Up at 5am for the pickup by FOLO and on the 6:30am ferry. Latte at Windsurfish's. Tried to get a much TOW as possible. It fired up a little late but it was a great day. Very solid from 5 pm to 6:30pm. Nice to ride with George and Chris. Caught the 10:45 pm Duke Pt back to the city and in bed at 2am. Thanks for driving George.

Things didn't get going till after 2 today :-( Got getting in and saying in the straps dialed, still can't figure out how the hell to effectively stay upwind on a full reach across the lake. Broke down mid lake when my top cap popped out (oopssssiee should have checked that whilst rigging), began longest swim against wind ever. BUT, after 30 mins of swimming... 4.5 only worked in the gusts, but instead of getting the big board out, I went to 5.0 and it was SWEET! Made a few dry jibes, none pretty, and a few jumps, none huge. But everything felt like it was starting to work properly again. Gordo's weather station says 25 knots pretty consistent gusts - didn't feel that strong on the water.

Nice nat day, fired up a bit late b/c the marine layer was 'over-extended'. Excellent company, excellent sailing, what more could you ask for? Probably should have rigged a 6.0, but the free rides are soo rangey. Thanks MTM for the cruising on the big board at the end (117L Free). different mast and downhaul/outhaul settings today plus 23 cm fin worked much better today, fun before chat session with all of you, i do enjoy your company, didn't stay because i didn't bring enouigh warm clothes again, but not hypothermic like saturday..delicious day..5 smilies for me thoroughly enjoyed it, but knees didn't, getting old.. :D :D :D :D :D :roll:
