Wind came up hard and fast. Waves were nice early on with some big steep swells down the middle. Great jumps again today. Had the 4.8 maxed. Easily 4.2 for awhile but I left it at home :? Waves got blown out as the day progressed but still lots of messy chop to play in. Probably the windiest I've ever seen it at the lake. Lots of happy faces

I really need to start rigging a smaller sail for days like this. Had some great jumps and then had a really out of control jump, felt like I was going into a forward but one foot came out and I was still hooked in so when I landed I kinda did the splits, a bit. After that I decided to pack it in for the day. Luke wasn't really napping anyway. Besides everybody was too busy enjoying the wind for me to expect any sort of reliable child care. Funny how it's much easier to find a sitter when the wind is light. ... (more)

:D :D :D One of, if not the best weekend I've had at the Lake. Took Kristina up for her 1st of the season. Wind was already raging when we arrived at 1. Rigged the smallest gear and was immediately blown off the water. Flattened the sails and managed to hold on for some scary fast fun. Lots of airtime today! Can't believe Kristina hung onto the 4.7/Carve 80, she must have been sheeted right out. She took the 4.2 /78 and made the mistake of trying to adjust the boom on the other side of the lake ... What a beautiful day!!! The wind was cranking for the 6.0 by 10:30 am so I hit the water at 11. By 2 things were CRANKING so much that the 4.7 freak was flattened and I was still barely holding on. Super scary/fun. Eventually it died just in time for me to help out a broken down sailorette in the middle of the lake, by the time that was done I was so far downwind and there was not enough for the 4.7 to get me back. Rather than tempt fate, got as close to the Marina as possible then swam to shore for th ... (more)

The Nanaimo trailer pool rolled into Gordon's to crankin' cconditions. Had a great 45 minutes on the 4.2, then it backed off to holey gusty. Bobbed around the kelp bed with the 5.0 for a while, then it slowly built back up to powered up 5.0. Jarring chop most of the time but good for forwards and managed a couple of decent ones. Thanks for the ride Eastside and I haven't forgotten the gas money (yet).

started off upwind then went back to clover pt. Wind was too sketchy behind the point today. HUGE waves off clover point, but wind still sketchy down there. Went back upwind and rode in a much crisper feeling steady wind. Could be something to do with the flatter water since it felt like I was slogging through the waves near clover point.

Nasty rocks, kelp beds, rock wall. Stood around for awhile getting cold, tried the freewave and the 4.2, more kelp beds. Grabbed 4.7, watched ur slog on his 4.7, rigged 5.3 :) That worked great. Must have just missed you GWind & Lukesay!

Gorge type winds in an industrial setting. Only in Port Alberni is another way to describe it. Solo session kept me a bit conservative (no loops), but a flattened 4.5 did the job (a bit overpowered at times). Nice to get out - wierd launch at the Quay - Eastside, do you really throw your gear off the wharf?

WOW. Pauly sailed for awhile on his new 90 l freestyle. Wind kept building. Wind was close to this shore, nice. getting my arse kicked on my 5.0 should have been on 4.4 easily. Lonely. They have lines in the parking lot, no brainer. Good thing the mid island mutts didn't show up, they probably didn't have sails small enough. well at least Kuster had some jibe marks. WINDSURF ISH where were uuuu ?

First coupla runs great, worried my 4.5 was going to be overpowered. Then someone upwind hit the switch. Weird because there was constant wind in the trees and clouds scudding overhead. Very tired from hula-ing and trying to waterstart in kelp. Wind filled in at end after I'd switched to the bigger board. Don't think I did a single dry jibe, but fun anyway.

Oh yeah. Don't sail in the turning radius of someone with a neck rash!

Sucked in rigging 4.2 & digging EVO out only to slog downwind, miss last of 4pm blast & threw an uphappy-boy tantrum in the rigging area. Having cleared some steam I was then happy to resume the slog/plane/sink/slogfest. Wind kicked up as Ruskie got dressed but hey, ya didn't miss much buddy  Kicked up more but flatter @end, BWD's disgusted facial expression told the story. Nanaimo gybe marks were out again

Yet another 4.0 day. Well, it was for an hour or so anyways until the fog came in and made it squirrelly. Was super stoked with big floaty airs and backsider hits. Tried some kelp harvesting on the swells off the downwind point with sporadic success. More 4.0 please!
