After a long wait it finally picked up around 3:00 for an hour of cruising and working on tacks, helis, switch-stance sailing etc. I highly recommend the Eastside all-inclusive south island package - unlimited gear capacity, hot water, dinner theatre (The Odd Couple), neurotic cannine companionship, personal hygene tips, and lots-o-laughs. Another great afternoon at Ross Bay. Didn't have anything bigger so had to use the C :D ode Red 7.7m. Amazing I got going on the Formula board with such a smallish sail. It was great in the 17kts part but when it was 12tks there was alot of pumping to be done! Good times with Mr. Keen(er) ripping thru the sailboats that were racing! Mr. Keen(er) is finally appreciating the BG for exactly what it is made for...light winds! That F-Type is fast! My top speed today was 34.7km/h. Not really that quick, needed mo ... (more)

On my own for the first hour, extreme flood current made going upwind a chore. Sad that there were no new people out to join me :( Today would have been a perfect time. Tried some backflip transitions - kept landing on my side and dumping the kite. Fins kept loosening off after those hard "landings". Time for some epoxy I think.

Had a great time jumping in the tide rip until I dropped my board & the Go-Joe couldn't beat the current ... Body dragged in, borrowed a board (Thanks Martin) & retrieved it ... Go-joes make a great marker for a middle aged near sighted kiter !!! 8)

Day 2 of the South Island Tour. Hamster sized waves at Sombrio had Bean UR and I off to Nitinat via the Gordon River Mainline. First ride on the gorilla glued, epoxy bubbled and resurfaced Carve. Udder and I were the Gordon's virgins. Fortunately there was no sacrifices necessary. Except for Bean's 5.0, which he probably holed on purpose so he didn't have to come in to rerig. Nice lined up swell was everywhere. Got some great swell rides and one big air. Took awhile to get used to the conditions. Nasty chop, great swell, then it smoothes out on the outside. Long day on the water. Took out the 15m to start in the super south almost SE winds. Kited out to sax point then back over to ross bay. Super lit in ross bay, some massive floaty jumps 8) . Back to the launch then switched to a smaller kite... then the wind died for the next hour... :cry:

So good! Big smooth swell on the outside for riding and jumping. Doc with some huge push loop attempts, Bean with some great fwds, TheLaw ripping up the swell. Great fun on and off the water. Good heckling session from the beach where I learned proper crank technique - apparently I've been doing it wrong. Doc nearly taken out by some transient geese. A close call and something that will stay with you for life! Thanks for the beer and chocolate BA and RD/Jelly for the beer!
