Piper's delivered the sun, wind, good crowd ... just missing the waves. Managed one port forward on a lucky gust by the channel marker. Nice session for the back yard but I've still got an itch that I think only Godo's or OR can scratch. Sunday, canoeing and swimming at Spider Lake, Horn Lake caves, bbq on the beach ... a perfect summer Island weekend.

Started out a bit light for 6.0, but ended up being a stable jibatorium kind of day. Thanks Jellyfish for the fantastic accommodations before my flight to Philly. There are a few new cider to try in the fridge when you get back.

    Nice!

Day off with wind and no ice on the lake! West wind so crazy gusty catabatic-type downdrafts off the Cassiar Mts. Lulls of 10 had me on the big board, but tailwalking stupidity in the biggest gusts, should have swapped fins for something smaller than 46 cm  Anywho, managed to impress some of the lokels with how fast the big board could go.

Beautiful day. Like old times at Pipers. Started moderately powered on the 4.5, then it became fully powered. I got that Naish for Pipers and it sure likes it. Volume for the windshadow and narrow tail for the chop. It worked perfectly! Some floaty jumps off the few ramps that presented themselves, but mostly just cruisin' in disbelief of the beauty out here.

I tried out Kus' AHD Concept Wave 87 with the thrusters and my 21cm fin. I like it! So short and turny. Planes quickly, heads upwind really well. T ... (more)

First time at the Nat, wow, I like it, just not the drive.

All new gear today except the board, which was a bit frustrating at first, but once I figured it out, especially the difference between a Waist and my now retired Seat harness, there was some solid blasting across the lake. Nearly have the footstraps figured out. The seat harness is clearly more idiot proof, but far less stylish.

Thanks to DDave for waiting up for me and letting me tail him out there so I would not get lost. I should have ca ... (more)

Sweet!!! Great session. Just got off the water and cleaned up. Sunshine, warm, nice steady wind. Perfect chocolatey goodness.

Nicely powered with the 6.4 when I hit the water at 10, then a little OP when things picked up about 45 minutes later as the sun broke through the haze. Things settled down about a half hour later for another good hour of blasting before it really started to crap out. Stayed mostly on the inside of South Winchelsea, but the wind out in the Strait felt pretty sweet. Hope the Piper' ... (more)

Right off the bat the wharf grabbed the nose of my board between 2 posts. The posts almost snapping it off in the swell. That was just the first nasal assault. Just about finished the nose by catapulting the mast into it, about 1 minute later. Nothing that a ding stick couldn't fix, temporarily. Have to get rid of the creosote too. Maybe if udder and I had gone to Gordos none of this would have happened

Landed some nice big jumps today. Gotta love the extra loft you get on the big wind days. Some nice sets on the inside at the end.

Lots of talent out there today - kiters floating some HUGE jumps. Looks fun 8)

Excellent encouragement from the peanut gallery today and some good snacks too. Thanks.

Fun day. Nice waves on the inside for looping and riding. Got windier and windier and I kept sailing closer and closer to shore. Shaggy, RD and Sparkles sailing into the sunset. Thanks for the beer Kus and for the chocolate BA.

got rid of 4.7 pretty quickly, mostly 4.2- outside, couldda used a 3.7 late, no way it was just gusting 32 knots out there  then waves got confused so grabbed the flat 4.7 for Xtra juice & joined the gang riding smaller sets in which steadily got bigger & more regular. Nevr seen a nice Gordo shorebreak  25kn+ on the beach late. What a day!! Landed 4 backies on the board, bitter sweet to fall in anyway, one bad into boom splatter :x Lots B&W, Udder

:D :D :D Started out early on the 4.7 and had a smooth ride then it got WINDY. Switched to the 4.2 and was powered to ridiculously overpowered at times. Would have liked Jeff's new JP wave board today. Fun times!!!

Glad I didn't go fly a kite.

Nice to see Sandy Beach giving the lighter side a go today.

Thanks Rocdoc and Kus for the boom loan...always check gear 3 times before leaving home.

Had to swim out to the kelp bed to get going but after that it was a nice summer like day with the odd good swell. As Keen and Fish stated it was like a totally different spot. Mostly sailed between clover and finlayson point could have sailed ogden to trial island with this wind direction. With the direction of wind the flood made no difference staying upwind.

Used the 6 meter today and was waaaaaaaay over powered at times and then not so much. It was a bit of a bucking bronco ride but tons of fun and very good to be back on the water. Added a hood, thicker booties and gloves and had a marvelous time out there. Got some jumps that I just got launched waaaaaaaaahooooooooooo
