:D Great day! Light and fluky for the first hour then it got much better. The water was so warm that I was overheating at the end. Nice sets at times. Memorable moments: Ozy's huge air spocks, Doc's one handed back loop, DWDs 1hr hate fest, MW non stop loops, Russian Pirate wave rides and the huge turnout. Had some ok loop attempts today.

"unseasonably strong cold front coming" -- bonus gift from the wind gods :o :D Big time fun factor :) . Everyone pushing their own personal limits. More of a jump day than ride. Roasty warm. I hucked numerous loopies today, a couple of sail aways, lots of butt landings, need to re-read the loop technique book  Some guy was out with a black pirate sail screaming "arrgh" and trying to commandere our boards.

I'll cut to the punchline - I trashed my kite in pounding surf.

Napped in the car waiting for wind and it arrived at 11:00 but was really up and down so much I spent an hour deciding what to rig. Surf board was way too much board. The whitewater was powerful and some waves were breaking way offshore. Really tight period and super jumbly choppy, altogether nasty waves. Came in and got my twin tip, dumped kite on the outside but there was almost no wind between the big swell so couldn't relaunch. Kit ... (more)

:D Marginal and puffy at first, then got better later. Small waves inside but just beyond that there were some head-high rollers to play on. Biggest turnout of WS that I've seen at CB and lots of looping by Ozy, Chris, DWD, BWD, Paul and perhaps others. Nice to be in or on relatively warm water too. 8) There were a few new Freaks on the water today.

Fun weird summer day at IV.

The swell was sure fun to play in, but the chop made it pretty bouncy.

Rollers in front of the boat launch, even farther out than normal.

One of them bowled me over pretty good.

    Wind was GUSTY.

Then swell disapeared, soon after wind followed.

Couple newbies out fighting the light wind for a bit.

A fellow boarder out today said he's got a Sonic comming

in the mail. Partly from the raving I did about mine.

So now there will be two of us. 8)

i was almost resigned to just playing on the beach and watching the windsurfers with my 4 yr old son when john and gnome arrived from campbell river and (god bless her soul) she took him off my hands for an hour and a bit. that was just enough time to savor the sweet vibe today with sunshine, mellow waves and ramps and a fun lovin crowd. even mike didnt mind when i almost killed him.

Quite a blast, great swell & waves w/ slightly UP 5.3 :P then waves died off, wind kicked down, I relented & rigged the barndoor for fun. What a drag in terms of weight/maneuverability in comparison, don't often make a jump like that  you don't notice the huge diff. Hoser read paper & had coffee while it was good, missed it later, bummer. What's-on?, Dangle & 14MTom having a blast

nobody on the beach except the people sleeping there.

    Pretty gusty today.

Jumping is Waayy to much fun... when you don't bail.

Got launched wayyy higher than I thought I was going to go.

Pulled in on the bar while in mid jump, it was like and elevator.

I think a gust hit me too.

    Going up?

    2.00 hours Starboard Evo 70 228cm
    Ezzy SE 4.5
Fun session! Lots of wind on the inside and nice head on ramps. Great fwd practice. Neck is a little stiff today.

Got lots more bouncy helmet cam footage  Camera seems to make people sail right at me and try stupid things (including myself) so I think it was a worthwhile purchase 8)

    Starboard Acid 77 8'1"
    Hot Sails Maui Superfreak 5.5
Sailed the Acid for about 15 min. and my uni joint broke leading to my fave board getting a good pummeling on both sides of the box, denting both sides and cracking one  After that i had fun on the fish but would've prefered the other board. Nice smooth swells on the inside and the wind got better later on before it dropped. :D

Fun in the wind and waves for the 1st time in over a month. :D :D :D Making more jibes with the short board in the lumpy conditions. Good to see Windoc and Morewind looping in the chop, inspires me on my 1ft jumps.
