Arrived at 9:30am to 10 inside and 15+ outside and lots of flat water. Rigged up the 5.2m Flyer as it still looked light inside and I had the big board so could deal with being overpowered. First hour was great with waves building and lots of tide on the outside with super flat sections. Bit O Seaweed in the water but cut it all except once when I came in too close and hit a big clump right after my gybe. Came in and rigged down to the 4.5m Flyer after 40 mins and it was 20+ and the swell was building. The ... (more)

I scared Bobson off the beach with my wind charisma. I started out with a 6mX3 and was consistently OP'd but had no probs getting lift and got some really good gybe practice. Switched to 5mX3 and took much strain off my arms and the dacron. Fun!

Waffled between 4 or 5 wing as it was 20 knots. Went for the 4. picked up to 30 knot gusts right away. Apologies to the new guy Matt for suggesting a 6m wing. He must have got spanked. Bit much for the 1099 but determined to tame it. With the crazy amount of glide I could ride that thing downwind as far as I wanted with no sail input. My eyes have been opened to the possibilities. Nailed my first tack attempt. Tried another 20 and only got one more. Too windy. Used a Timmies lid for a shim and it was way le ... (more)

Nitinaht Day 2
Friday was a very nice surprise.??
Light rain till noon, then it stopped. ??Light wind session (8m) started shortly after. ??Then the sun came out around 2pm and the wind turned on in true Nitinaht fashion. Switched to 5m wing. Everything dried out and it was warm and sunny for the rest of the day. More than 3 hours on the water for me.??
Lots of empty site. Hardly anyone on the water.

Evening session again. Wind was really up and down, well overpowered on the 5m up at CP so headed further into the bay. Had a few beers with dinner that didnt translate well into foiling - way too much coordination required. After about 20 mins of flailing around, things came together and had a fun session. JJ and Bougie were ripping out there!! The level of foiling at RB is improving week over week!

Sunset session turned out well. Still worn out from Tuesday but couldn't resist. Pretty lit in the gusts on the 4 but the water was pretty clear and a good small crew out. Had some awkward bails but decent rides. Went from always riding an aluminum mast to an hm carbon mast and damn what a difference! Ended with a tear and a pop as my strut blew and I began the sunset paddle in. Thank you David for the Sea-Tow service!!

On the water just after 11am to 12-14kts. First hour was amazing, mostly 12-16kts which was soooo perfect for the 5.2m Flyer. Did a few speed runs down to Trial Is. as it was very flat so could drop the hammer! Then it lightened up after an hour so decided to come in and have a snack and some water. Well, it had dropped so I waited for about an hour until it picked up to 10-14kts and I worked it in marginal conditions for the next hour coming of the foil a few times and ending up pumping a lot. After 50kms ... (more)

Now I've got a stiff mast I can rock the 1099 I've been holding onto for a year. Took 1/2 my sesh to get a handle on it. Was pitch sensative. Greg suggested it needed a tail shim. The amazing glide had me riding tiny waves and getting up in less wind than my 810BSC. I then switched boards for Greg's 65L Omen. He coached me through my first stinkbug starts. Was a sweet ride. Nimble board and stable foil setup. Cost me $ as I'll have to get a smaller board now. Thanks Greg for the gear and coaching.

Arrived around 7:45 for an evening session. Few wings flying up at Clover. Rigged up the 5m and slogged only half way before i caught a gust to join the crew up there. Helicopters out doing some sort of training which was interesting to watch. Pretty fun session, but the wind was up and down and swell was minimal. Good to get out and spend some more time getting comfortable on the new foil.

Arrived about 530 and it was on with lots of south in it! Rigged a 4.0 and launched perfectly timed for it to die. Slogged out and back and went up the hill. Big group of young guns rigging with hope. Shaggy came by to say he'd been on a 5 and wishing for something smaller for a while so my instinct wasn't completely shot. Finally it veered and came back a bit. Had a good session of crashes in waves with a couple of quiet downwinders.

Arrived to it just picking up. <10kts when I arrived and by the time I got rigged it was 12-14kts, Basically foiled right off the beach, had to stop down by Gonzales Bay as I caught some weed and couldn't get rid of it, so stopped and backed up and it came off otherwise didn't miss a gybe and had some fun downwind rides in the waves outside. Mostly 15-18kts. A bit of junk in the water just off Clover but otherwise pretty clear. Met Chris with his 7m Wing and saw Rupp-Dogg and MarkA out on the water. I th ... (more)

So tired this morning I didn't have it in me to hit the beach early. Rigged too small. Wrong board to start. A decent ride or two. Mostly slogged and finished with a swim and walk. No wings. Couple of kites. Excellent workout!

Fun times on relatively flat water but stiff winds with Greg, Paul, and Gautam. Mildly OP'd in the bay with the 5mX3, nuke powered beyond MTI where it gusted over 30kts. More gybe practice.

Incredible day. Pretty gusty. Incredible learning opportunity. Intense conditions. Very 'yanky' as BWD observed. Appropriate. It got to a point where it was just about surviving it at which point I wrapped it up.

OMG That was one of the best days at Clover Point for me in a long time. Took Marty's 7m OR Rise - it was a beast. So fast, such big jumpies and long dangles - I think I had some of my biggest loops here ever on that.. just wow - perfect sesh.

Tiny wings everywhere!
Few sail changes between 4 and 3m early afternoon to overpowered on the 3.0 Impressive seas with steep slopes. Foiling at the edge of my comfort zone til my arms fell off. Hard to leave this perfect playground but I was completely spent after 3hrs.

Started on 4M and was good for a bit until it really cranked up went and got the 3M and that was good for a while and then mostly overpowered. Swell was awesome on the outside huge rolling swell with some that turned into dropoffs before I could glide down . Lots of wipeouts but so fun. Tried to follow BWD and Shaggy on wave behind until they dissappeared behind a wall of water. Finally was too tired to continue that overpowered. You know you had fun when you can barely walk on the beach when you get back.

Great day but I started a bit too early and was a bit tired once the wind and swell really cranked up. Even the 2.5 was flapping in the gusts.
