Arrived from Clover to what seemed a holiday, nice power 4.2, no waves...then crap hit fan. Grabbed 3.5, turned it into a 3.2 & held on  Wind actually kicked down for a bit making me wish for the 4.2 but then came white smoke w/ a vengeance. Scored some awesome wave rides between gusts, parked during :x Jumping not an option ever  Cold in the suit, warm hands tho go figure. Wicked workout, STOKED

:D . Took an a hour to get dialled, then the wind steadied a bit. Started out really punchy with lulls and ended off just damn gusty. The inside was all hawaii: Smooth, bright turquoise and froth, most swell breaking well off shore, but wind quite light and holey inside. Steepest faces I've smaked yet - some nice vertical walls to push against. Last one out, everyone bugged out early. Kept warm due to a 7mm diving hood - keeps the whole body way warmer. Snapper was out on a 6m and windsurfers were on 4mis ... (more)

Scary gusts, banged around like a ragdoll but caught a few great waves & smooth planing gybes on long faces  One air went south, almost another impalement as wind gripped board :? Getting in & out trickey with slippery reef & log, clean water tho, no driftwood to speak of. Underpowered in the lulls and nicely powered in the gusts at first. Then OP and had trouble keeping the rig and board in the water after falling. But what a marvellous feeling of being alive! Kus showed everyone how to sail white smoke. Gusts/white squalls visible way out by far reefs, they'd be hitting Willows just seconds later. Wish I'd had a camera with people leaning 30 degrees into wind standing on the sidewalk, with Kus sailing in background. Wow!

    Neil Pryde Tucktape Special 4.0
Decided to give Clover a try. Turned out to be the wrong decision. It was far too windy to sail, with very mean loggy shore break. Swam in and got washed up on the beach far downwind. Amazingly didn't break anything on me or my kit, except for a small ding on my board when it got blown around on my deck back home.

So. . . be safe out there folks, heres a few of my thoughts:

-Always make sure there is a safe place to land downwind.

-Logs in the water are very dangerous, even small ones can easily b ... (more)

starte off meh - mowing the lawn on no waves, then things picked up - a couple of waverides, one snappy forward, couple of almost sail-away backs, then it went south (literally) and I had a long schlog (77 l. don't schlog so well) and swim (all the while imagining the spousal wrath of missing my flight to P.G. "cause the wind turned off shore - it wasn't my fault!") and walk of shame. All in all a pretty lame last sesh for the year

    Good day today!

Had to wait till it came down from 30knots to a mostly steady 20, but gusting upwards.

No one there for a while so I got the local Police patrol, to come help me launch.

Solid 5m session, some super fast riding in the flat water when really powered up. Broke my bindings off though, which brought my session to and end quite quickly. Surfboard sessions from now on...

Decent session yesterday as well, but rigged too small as I was being a little overly cautious since it was my first time on the water since early July when I injured my knee at dallas, so it could have been a lot better, had I rigged a 12 or so. Good to be back on the water though! :D

Penguin nailed it -- "mellow". Cruising back and forth, finding the occasional wave. Sort of stokeless today :? A couple of OK forwards. One bail out forward. saw BWD nailing two nice loops  CB webcam = drool :o

No wind in Vic, steady but a bit under at IV w/ 4.8, took a bit to get used to again. New OR suit worked out ok, sore ribs from harness tho, no neo padding, grrr :x Few hops & great wave rides on outside bar w/ Mark, then Ruskie did a few stunts in the break to shake things up :D Dick wind inshore made 4pump & gybes, not much glory, few ducks in the break tho :P Outside bar was the place to play today. HollowBones & Passmorewind had their wet lunch, nice

Last day in La Ventana so I had to make it worth it. Only had a 16m or 8m since I ripped my 12m yesturday. Tried to be the first one on the water and the last one off. Kited for 2hrs took a long break then headed back out. During the second session, the wind picked up and I got way overpowered on the 16m, felt like I was flying a truck. Called it a day and headed in with a smile on my face.

    Time to head back North.

Well, I ripped my kite today during a bad landing on a jump. I tried to re-launch but it was the centre panel that had ripped, so I ended up floating for a while downwind, thats what happens when you fly old gear. Not worth reparing as the repair job is worth more then the kite. Just in time to buy a new kite for Xmas.

It was gusty today, lots of different size kites out...everything from a 16m to a 10m on the water. I still had fun, time to grab a Margarita
