Blown off the water with my foil gear I switched to my wave board. Took some persistence to get out but it ramped up closer to the shore and I was able to waterstart. Still too much sail power for the wind speed but felt good to get back on the slappy gear after so long. Learned pretty fast I was not in physical shape for it anymore so I did not last long. Went for a few forward loops and sailed out of one. :)

Not bad to start but eventually became too much wind for my gear with out of control gusts. Launched some good jumps but not too many good landings. Attempted a half-baked forward loop which seemed like a good idea at the time but not afterwards. Not sure I like the idea of swinging an axe around with my feet.

Launch at 730pm. A rare sunset session! Walk up Spanish Banks floating the board almost to Dog Beach in glassy swell before it filled in at 8PM. Everyone that launched earlier was becalmed. Great session on my brand new 72 litre KT board from Dirty Mermaid! Fully powered and almost overpowered at times on the unbelievably forgiving 1500R foil.
Epic downwinder back from the waves at Acadia to the flat waters off the Banks. Back on land at 930. Where did everyone go?

Continuous +20kt winds in the bay made for fun times with Gautam, Greg, and Paul. There was the usual gusty bits and holes around the middle of the bay. It's nice to have foiled here so often to know what to expect and how to get around it. Out past MTI, it was +30kts and a bit too exciting for me. Rode endless S-Turns and reveled in the G-forces generated. Great couple of sessions with some fun folks.

Lots of folks on the water over the course of the day. No consensus on wing size, i.e. 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, they were all out at some point.
Water was good and flat inside, but the shore wind shadow made it gusty & challenging at times. The wind was a little offshore.
Used my smaller foil for a change, which helped when overpowered.

Now that was more like it. STill a crap direction with a ton of west in the wind making it hard to get back to the launch. This is where the wing is obviously way better. Super frustrating start in gusty/holey wind. On the plus side I never thought I'd be riding a 1000cm foil, 4m wing and 72 L board in such light air. Lots of work until the switch was thrown eventually and it all turned on. Sadly had to leave but had a few fun jumps, some turns and some good weird crashes from altitude. Stoked crew on it as I was packing up. Hopefully lots more to come in Oregon soon on the coast??

Finally gale force over farce. Overpowered on 3.0 on the outside near the end of my sesh. Gusty as hell at times with beauty swell. Really dug my new high modulus mast. Pushed hard riding swell and it pushed back and threw me off a few times till I got the hang of it. The longer length was awesome with less breaches. Length does matter! Look forward to trying the 1099 on it. Over 20 wingers on the water and beach.

The 3.0 got its first ride. 2.5 would have worked. Had lots to do so a short session. Glad to have no hard falls and learned to slog the 3. Have to use front flag out handle or the wing stalls and drives downwind. Very fluke inshore and steadier and loads of power out. Lots of poo stance wobbling. Keen was out fin sailing and a couple more I saw blasting over the swell at Cook on my drive home.

Pretty gusty and punchy. So much depower on my 8m that it felt really unstable. Didn't even bother to try and get up in the air as it felt like there were a lot of potential consequences today. Nice to be out in the sun and pretty happy to make it back without breaking anything including myself. Must be getting old. Maybe it's time to look at winging.

Arrived around 11:30am to see a bunch of windsurfers either out or wrapping up.
Dan was nearly set to head out with a 4m wing.
Wind was good, but increased around 2pm and the gusts were stronger..

Nice to enjoy a warm NW session at pipers again. Fully powered on a 5.4 with 110 JP. Fun in some swell and the gybes seemed to work better today. Great company back at the beach.

Started out great on the 5.0. Some good swell. Started dropping quickly around 10:30. I figured I might have to swim in but made it in ok. Around 11 it picked up. Went back out but no idea it had picked up big time. I had to stop and out haul the sail. Swell still good but the swell didn't build that much.Good times.

Well earned solo session. Launched Dog beach in 2/3mm wetsuit at 930 and in position at windward sand bar drop-off at 10. A pocket of wind around the marker and stayed in the pocket to make it work. It shut off at 1130 and slogged back to the beach. A good day at the office.

Filled up the van with wind toys and Paul and Greg for some mid-island fun with Idefix and the Pipers crew. 4mX3 was the perfect weapon in the steady winds. Still a bit intimidated by the swells outside, but i think that will diminish with more familiarity with Pipers. Got lucky with a few gybes and very much enjoyed endless S-Turns.
