almost a repeat of wednesday, except slightly more west and the water was a little choppier rather than wavy. Inspired by Ross and Ed, I went retro and tried spinning again. highlight was a nice double forward into toeside carve that I managed to land. Lots of fun!

Although it looked like it would fire off in a big way (like Wed did....), 5.0/95L proved a bit less than desirable - hard to get upwind, and in one hole, I got a visit to the village dock :(. A walk, a change for 6.0/111L and bobs yer uncle. Perfect Nitinaht 6.0, lots of jibes on BOTH sides, a few of them carved on plane. Nice!

silky smooth and steady south wind, light at first and steadily more through the session. direction made for some interesting runs along the beach getting going, kind of cool actually. highlight was my first ever highspeed, fully and evenly powered heel to toeside carve *without losing speed*. Only took me 6 years... :) hoping for more tomorrow! lowlight was going blind on port tack. :shock:

:D :D :D :D 1/2 An everything on the beach kinda day. Arrived a bit late for the nuking winds, but still had an hour of 4.5/95L. Out with the 5.0/95L for an 1.5 hrs, then finished with a 0.5 hr session of 6.0/111L. Several carve jibes, lots of successful jibes, and a few chop/hops. A few walks as well, when the gear in use became too small :roll:
All in all, a nice session - I feel worked over....

:D Considered staying in town and sailing Cook St., but after about 10 seconds I snapped out of it realizing that would be a waste of time and took off for Gordo's. :lol: What was I thinking? Plenty of wind became lots of wind which became too much wind for the 12m.
Great for jumping though. Scary heights today even though they were only half the height of Watson's jumps!
And the windsurfers had a great time.

After yesterday's punishment, I was a bit slow to get on the water. But the legs managed to hold out ok. The wind was slow to pick up, but in the end it came up strong and I went out on the 5.3. I quickly realized I was super overpowered. Too much power to think about getting in the footstraps. Mostly I was just trying to hang on. Sailed in the morning on big gear up to island and back twice. Then managed freestyle comp and then back out on the iSonic 105 and Gator 7.0m. Too much fun. Packed up and left at 7pm after a delicious salmon dinner.
Forgot, stayed dry on 12 gybes in a row.....getting around alright, have to work on sail flip and hang down on boom......it's coming...feels good!!! :shock:

Had a great freestyle clinic put on by Rob and Wyatt who got the freestyle freaks stoked to go and try some stunts. Got some great tips and will be tweaking my forwards technique quite a bit as a result.
The actual freestyle event saw Rob and Wyatt ripping in the lightwinds, but I was unable to do much underpowered as I was. After the freestyle clinic got me thinking that forewards might still be in the cards, if I can ever chop hop (and the tips got me to break the surly bonds of water finally later on!), slogged the 5.8/Adagio for a run before switching to a Carve 133 and Severne ca 6.5 (prototype sail with no size marking). NICE!! Nearly kept up to Bobson on his Big Gear up and downwind, very impressive early planing and coasting through lulls.
