awesome day on the water, not just another one cruising around. up wind downwind race was great, nasty spill just before the first windward rounding gave me a black eye and lost me the lead. finished in fourth though. racing like that takes me back. kitercross is SICK!!! intense, fast, fully lit 10m. its an amazing sport.

Start of Windfest! Fantastic work done by the organisers. Thanks for a great weekend!
Raced slalom on John's big freestyle board and old Retro. Suffered upwind but had good speed coming back and even managed to hold off a few slalom guys. My final placing was not so stoke inducing, though, and had me wishing I'd not sold my race gear. Fun though!
Later that day on the freestyle gear, I started to get more consisitent landing slidey vulcans and flatwater forwards. A breakthrough session!

OOOF, what a day! Not feeling very well, but still managed to be first in the first heat around the first mark - blew the gybe :evil: , but still managed second in the race :D. Took my first kite lesson through Elevation Kiteboarding. Marie was a great instructor and made learning easy. Amazed at how smooth the kite was (North Vegas) compared to the other 2 older kites I've flown on land before. The big OR Dorado was a stable platform for kooking back and forth across the lake and got me going upwind a bunch of times 8) . Managed a few low level dangly jumps. Headed over for 3 days of Windfest fun. Fairly light winds but enough to propel the 8.5 and GO and provide windsurfing joy. At about 4pm the wind cranked up a little and I took the Carve and 6.0 out for a spin. The boom slipped out of my grasp half way through and I lurched forward to grab it ..... that's when I heard the "pop" in the back of my leg! Class 2 tear of the hamstring muscle. MTM had a nice 8.5 session in the build-up period, and in a blown jibe on the far side, he ganked a hamstring muscle (ouch) which got him off the water for the day. Windfest is in full swing, and the sound system can be heard from at least Franklin camp!!

An epic day to end off a great trip. Started on 4.2 at 10:30 am in beauty swell but it wasn't as windy as it looked and the holes were frustrating so upped it to 5.0. Wind started to fill in again and switched directions making for great starboard ramps. Did one nice forward and then things went haywire and I was back up rigging the 4.2 for two hours of OP sailing in big gorge swell with lots of bone shaking chop and some harsh wipeouts on attempted port back loops. Absolutely, totally exhausted!

Arrived at Noon and it was sunny and blowing 16-18kts, rigged up the Overdrive 8.5m and ripped for an hour when it picked up to 20-25kts so I rigged the Isonic and Gator 7.0m and went out for some slalom practice....fully powered fun!! Played slalom for an hour then went out for some high wind formula sailing, down to bottom end of lake right up to the top where the wind drops off.

:D :D :D :D :D :?: A fine day of 6.0 sailing, tainted slightly by the fact that I had a brand new boom come unglued and leave me sitting in the water holding a spar in my hands while still hooked in. Fortunately, the other side of the tailpiece was intact, and I was outbound, so I quickly sailed back for a different boom and sailed out the session.....
