Haywire self launch. Weight bag tangled up in bridle, removed by good samaritan...Depower line came uncleated & dove the kite into the weeds to avoid power lines. Set up again & launched by Chris. Sweet run to the outside ended with some sort of surreal spin/splat & kite in water...Self waterlaunch was ugly ending in a kelp wrapped set of lines @ the beach. Bad Karma day !!! Serious cleanup ahead...Kite was powered nicely for that 32 second run though.

NUKIN'!!!! So glad I borrowd that 3.7 and I woulda rigged a 3.2 if I'd had it. Had a crazy OP 4.2 hour-and-a-half then came in to rig the 3.7 only to find that sloppy rigging resulted in the collar on the extension breaking and my mast sliding down over the pin tearing two nice slices through it  . Quick trip to Windance, sliced off 5 cm, and I now have a perfectly functional 395 mast :D ! Back to Doug's for 2 more hours of maxed 3.7 in huge swell. First time windsurfing on the ocean . Jen Finck and I went out after the hubbies rigged our gear for us, and took care of the kids on the beach while we battled the waves. :x We both were pommelled, and had some crazy falls (wouldn't classify as wipeouts, as we weren't going fast enough). Both of us got up planing only twice after two hours.....mostly just the walk of shame... We were both underpowered near the beach, and found it extremely challenging to waterstart or beach start.

Was pretty tired after yesterday's session. Would have been very content to sit on the beach all afternoon and watch. Didn't really find my groove on the water. Attempted jibes, was trying to carve the inside rail to get that board turned around...no luck. But was having fun sailing back and forth with John. At one point I was showing off some of my wave sailing, when I managed an awesome catapult resulting in a huge 'crack' as I landed. Luckily my duck-taped board seemed to be fine. Unfortunately, ... (more)

:D Awesome 5.0 day at the hatch. turned 4.0 later but I was too beat to re-rig. Lots 'o' table tops, helis, backwinded tacks, 4 forwards with the last one an easy waterstart up and some port tack backs. Super FUN!!! :D Then, some drama as we all watched an intermediate sailor cruise on a collision course with a barge only to stop no more than a mast length from from it and get pushed out of the way by the bow wave - very very very scary.

Family day at Gordon's :D :D Sandra was introduced to ocean sailing today and despite spending most of her time battling shore break and then kelp beds, she still wants more. Man I love my wife :D :D

I hit the water late afternoon and was over powered as soon as I left the beach. It was a crazy ride but I still managed to launch a few nice jumps and make most of my jibes at the beach. Water choppy at first then smoooooth with great swell. One of the most fun sessions of the whole year, it was hard wiping the smile from my face.
