Summer Pipers : )
11:00, the old pine singing 20kts, gusty in the parking lot, the windsurfing fleet, DavidM, Uddereef, sailing tiny boards. Yes! Rigging 4.0 : )) Fully powered on the 1250cm for another great session with the South Island crew: Paul, Greg, HRock and Vlad. Good swell north of the Hudsons and flat water in the bay for tack attempts (no progress there :/
Noticeable smell of smoke, a grim reminder of the reality just a few kilometres north. So happy to see more rain!

Fantastic day at Pipers with Idefix, Greg, and Paul. Pretty well steady +20kts all day. shared the swells with a few of the local windsurfers. Lots of winds and gusts in the first 100m offshore, followed by a 200m hole, followed by consistent +20kt winds. Started with 5mX3 but was consistently OP'd. Switched to 4mX3 and enjoyed the winds much better. Idefix practiced his tacks, Greg was killing his jibes, Paul and I just foiled. I got lucky with a few jibes in the well powered winds. Still lots of wind rema ... (more)

Chilled in the Hammock on the beach until the wind picked up at 11. Started out on the 6.2 I had rigged from yesterday evening and rigged up to a 5.0, then back down to the 6.2 near the end. It picked up quite quick and peaked at about 1, then dropped and held at 16ish knots until I left. I would have stayed later but I busted a harness line.. so i called it there. Saw the odd red jellyfish and prayed i wouldn't fall on one lol. More motivation to nail those jibes i guess. Still trying to work on getting up ... (more)

Much better. Winds filled in to shore, played with the 1440 foil for a bit, but switched to the 1800. A few crashes, but much more time above the water. Still tweaking front strap locations. One windsurfer out (G-Daddy?).

Arrived really late and just had enough time for a quick sesh until the wind completely died. Did not think there would be any wind today due to the updated forecast. So many kiteboarders out and a couple windfoilers and windsurfers when I arrived. Oh well, time to set up camp and rest up for tomorrow.

Weirdly frustrating experience. Looked like a bunch of wind at first. Prepared a 4m. Decided it looked weird out there so pumped up a 5m. An experienced sea dog warned me about weird currents that made it really hard to catch anything on the way out. I duly ignore good advice and go out with only a five metre and suffer for my arrogance for two hours. First 45 mins were "workable" but really light wind. And than it just got totally confusing. Wind lines on the water that never materialized in the ... (more)

Fun session with 9m and foil. Went down to Gonzales Bay, wind was full in there, and was fun to downwind there. Saw David on Wingfoil, he said he is so addicted he cannot stop riding the Wing. Another reason not to get into winging.
Nailed a rock on and put a ding in my foil, becoming less stable by the day, getting the hang of the thing though.
Sunset was incredible -

Weak SW wind but with some good swell mixed in. The wind slowly dropped so I quit, probably a bit too early since it looked okay once the semi-pros got out there. I was too tired from the all the pumpy pumpy and I didn't want to miss the serious beach chat where we came close to solving many of the global issues.

Joined the Armstrong squad today with a MA 1225 setup on the new 935 mast. Looked windy when I left my house at 6:30. Arrived to dropping conditions but a few sailers doing well out in the bay. Quickly died off as I got my gear out. Waited on the beach for an hour and a bit showing off my new foil like a proud dad. DaBaker tested some freshening wind and it looked back on! Very impressed with the new foil and mast. An improvement everywhere but maybe top end speed which Winddoc said I can fix with a shim. E ... (more)

Bad stomach bug last few days has hit me hard but couldn't pass up a Gspot session today. Pumped up the 5m though I thought it was the 4M. D'uh. Went out anyway and yup, overpowered. Some floaty hops and some kelp wrasslin' thrown in for good measure. Dean, John, Marty, Sam all out. Pumped up the real 4m and went out again. Big shore bubble. Discovered the 4m was a bit soft in the 30 knots outside. More floaty jumps but felt off with this bug so called it. At least no wetsuit accidents were had. Drov ... (more)

Rigged a bit smaller than I thought I should as I thought it would increase but it didn't. A few Wings out of Willows playing around MTI. I went out a ways to find wind but there wasn't much anywhere. Some gusts came through but guess I should have rigged the 6/7. The Anawa (203' long) was anchored just off CP 1st boat launch. Weird spot to anchor. Huge vessel affected the wind around the launch. The tender, about a 20ft runabout was going in and out a few times with 4 or 5 Doods on it. Then it tucks ... (more)

A little light wind barely enough in the beginning and a few weeds near shore. It picked up to 12 for maybe 10 minutes and found some joy with no weed further out. It dropped and I floated in. The end.

Packing and smokey morning until the wind kicked up. Started around noon pretty strong and got stronger. Dropped lil'b off at the yurt for a zoom meeting and then ripped around near the island with Peter N on his wing. Got flukey for a hot minute so came back and walked lil'b's gear WAY up the beach. WInd stabilized and she got planing multiple times and dabbled in the harness and front strap. Logical next step is to drop out of high school and turn pro.
114L was fun all day. Stole lil'bs 3.4 Revo at the ... (more)

Eastside and I were on it early. Sailed 8:30 - 10:30am before the outgoing tide really kicked in. Wind and swell were excellent. Axelporker arrived for 2nd shift. Hung out at the beach debriefing til 11:20. Another great day in paradise!
