:D 1st time on the carve 121 in the ocean aside from some ill fated wading sessions at willows. Slogged out by choice most of the time to avoid launching off the mondo clover swell. Gotta work on taking those on at speed. Ripping on the way back in, smacking the lip and launching huge airs...ok maybe tapping the lip and almost clearing the fin but had a wikid good time cruising in.
Had a few mouthfuls of finest greeny-brown salt water Ross bay has to offer. Took a short break to digest and then had some ... (more)

Yippee.....on holidays!!! Arrived at the lake to a packed campsite but my gaurdian angel allowed us to acquire prime waterfront just as a group from Washington left. Sailed the 99 and then the surfwood 70 both with a 4.8. Kelly, Jen, Amy and Grace arrived that evening along with the boat and hopeful fishing plans for the am.

Think I was tired after slogging/pumping the big sail the day before. 1 very hard catapault when the wind came up and somehow I couldn't find the rear strap :shock: Changed down to a 5.0 then, OK for a while, but mostly underpowered and too lazy to put a boom on the 5.8 again. Very holey - looked like it filled in nicely after 5 as I was packing. Girls had a good time, though no desire to windsurf yet :wink:

Got out on the water by 10am on the 10.0m, only one other kiter dude out that early. fully powered on one run then BANG! My boom broke. Limped back in with the good boom arm put away the 10.0m and grabbed the 8.5m and zipped up the lake and back. Did some speed runs on the BIG GEAR when the wind picked up to 18-20kts. Make 49.2km/h which was like being airborne the whole time.....felt sooo much faster than sailing same speed on small gear...YAHOOO! Sailed till Noon:30 and then packed up and went home as I w ... Slept on the board bag on the beach. After huge breakfast cooked by Bobson it was blowing by 10:00. Went out around noonish for some time on the SuperX 116L and 6.0 then went 5.2 on the 91L FreeStyle Wave when it picked up. First time on that board. Awesome!

:D Wow!! Cook St. was Launch Pad Central. Got down to the water just after 6, not a single kite out. By the time my kite was ready to lauch, it was blowing hard :) NASA could save major $$ by using nights like this for shuttle lauches. Everyone was launching, and it couldn't have been more fun. :D I think Darwin knocked a satellite out of orbit... wind 9/10, lift 10/10. It simply doesn't get better :)

Warm. Funnish, gusty, one good slidey vulcan, many crappy flat water forwards forced off of choplets. One near Gecko. Mild stoke reduced chance for hateful attempts at grubbies or flakas. Tried out a GPS waterproof running watch. Went 31 mph (27 knots) on the Evo-Wind Obsession. Not bad for a 5.0 wave sail and "slow" wave board in chop and comfortably powered conditions. It'll be interesting to see how fast this set up will go in REALLY powered conditions.

Got out at 10:30am on the BIG GEAR, Severne 8.5m as it was 12-14kts(ish) but 15 mins later it dropped to 10kts, so came back and grabbed the 10.0m sailed anther 30 mins then it dropped a bit more and I didn't want to pump anymore. Came in and set 3 marks for racing with the help of two youngings and their zodiac(thanks a bunch!) sorry that the mark on the far side by the logs is too high, next time I'm up there I'll move it downwind and hopefully have a track on some bigger marks. Arrived at the lake around 11:30, already blowing but it never really got going. Tried the 6.0 then went 7.0 (biggest I had). Chased Bobson and Gman up and down the lake as far as I could....needed an 8.0. Water was super warm, shorts and rashie.
