Was a bit of a risk heading to the lake this weekend - the weather forecast was not promising, but Ron and Gary were in town, so we thought it would be fun, regardless of the weather. When we arrived on Friday, the wind was still blowing, and John had a sail for 30 minutes or so when we first arrived. On Saturday - the wind was super light, and was cloudy and dull. Threatened to rain all day. Regardless, John still tried to sail with his 7.5. The rest of us huddled around the fire. Ron and Gary left by late ... (more)

sunny, warm water and air...wind really picked up at one point with some on 4.2's totally maxed for me on the 5.7......sauna is too close to campsite and restricts beach useage for camping severely...nice job though....by people reasonably new to the lake.....perhaps they will have to try and find a camping spot sometime when the others spots are full....

:D That was awesome, I was fully lit on my 12m and loving my "new" used board, worked my way upwind past the river and had fun attempting to jump. Got over powered, came in and switch with my 8m, stayed up wind from kitesurferdale so he wouldn't land on me after the huge air he was boosting. Rain got too heavy so I came back in.....lots of fun! Nice to relax in the newly rebuilt Sauna with Herman, Chris, Rob and Anna. 8)

Mark V's first day out in 10 yrs, Janet in the back straps on the Go getting better and better. I sailed back to Nanoose (and home) around the breakwater, then drove back to pick up Janet & her stuff at Eby.....

Excellent if a bit light for the 9 (things got low end though). Steep ramps to really lay slashes into. Warm, no gloves, lots of spectators. 4 windsurfers drifted downwind - a windsurfer thought I was on a 6m and rigged too small. OR harness keeps riding up against my ribs and yanking on the boys (maybe its the fact I have no waist but it seems to be more of a waist harness than a seat harness) :D

What an annoying day. Hovered around just under for 5.8 almost all day - went out a couple of times for 10-20% planing runs. Lots 'o standing around expecting it to fill in. Got drawn out by a late "sucker gust" only to have it pretty much die all together and spend almost an hour fighting a super strong current to get back DOWNWIND to the beach. Good workout, not much fun.

After that I was practicng "no wind" waterstarts and chicken ( hen ) jibes.

And I'm with BWD on the best part of the day. Man, thanks for the beer! That was great! Good company, good food, we should do it again

Logged the starting wind - nicely powered 5.8 for the first hour, dropping slowly, by the end it was 95% slog, 5% plane. The GB weather station shows 24 knot gusts for this time, so maybe we are calibrated low. Made a couple of (barely) planing gybes, stayed dry on most. Did some half-hearted tack attempts on the inside, not seriously going for it.

It was blowing MUCH harder in Sooke Basin before/after. Beer at the 17 Mile with BWD, RD, Brian, and Don. BWD musta hit his head coming off on one of h ... (more)

Ok thats enough Gordon's for me for a bit. The best wind was when Don and I were standing around watching the 5.5/Jimmy Lewis dude sailing for close to an hour. Wind was on/off and a stupid cloud over us seem to keep the wind away. Oh well, still fun and good practice. Best session was at the 17 mile...good friends, good food and good beer :)

After humming and hawing about the weather all morning, we finally hit the road. I was totally expecting to sail big gear all weekend. We arrived mid afternoon to a very sparse campsite. 1 kite and 2 windsurfers out in lots of wind :D Unloaded and hit the water at about 3:45. Absolute bliss for 2 hours. Had the lake to myself for the last hour. Solid 20-25 knots. Got a bit gustier later but still lots of wind until well after dark.

:D Props to EC and NOAA for delivering on the forecast :!: At 2pm it was 5 knots and looked grim, the drive to Gordos looked foolish (Dr Suzuki was saying don't waste the gas  ). But, took a chance and the wind machine cranked up :)

Nothing beats sailing with friends at such a beautiful place. Had fun working on a range of moves, most invented 20 years ago, with varying degrees of success.

Elbow feels like it's been rotated 180 degrees. On my second bottle of Ibuprofen! The wind fired up at 9:30 am today. Went out at 11:30am on the 121 and 6.0 fully powered. Went up to the bay and Knob Point. All alone on the water! Did a couple of high speed downwind reaches all the way to the village and back up again. Fantastic sailing conditions. Totally dialed in. At 1:30 I was overpowered and switched to the Kombat and 5.3 for half an hour. Packed up and headed for home cuz I gotta go to work t ... (more)

Light at first then it steadily increased to 4.7. Good swell. Should have switched to the small gear earlier.

First day out at Gordon's this year. It was great! Lots of waves to ride and powered/over powered for most of the time I was there. Morewind was respresenting the forward crowd, BWD performing his patented impossible starboard side wave rides...i don't know how he does it. I managed to rotate around on another back loop type thing...still no witness'. Feeling better on the starboard wave rides...still a pussy for the forwards

Left work @ 4 looking at totaly bad webcam picture and latest report, on the way there has been convinced, that I was going to get skunked, but decided to check it out anyway. Turned out to be a right call.

Came to the beach and found Morewind and BWD playing out there with 5.0. TheLaw went out and then quickly got back shouting "I need smaller fin!", BWD got back to downhaul more. Cool!

So I rigged up 4.5 an big one? stayed on it for about an hour, then got forced to change the board.
