Wind came up at about 10:30 again. More up and down than the day before but got about an hour on the 5.3 and Kombat around 1:00 to 2:00. Only one on the water for an hour. Only 4 sailors the whole day. A couple of kiters. Spent the rest of the day running the Gaastra Matrix 6.0 through it's paces. Roger Dee and I went up to Knob Point and had some great runs to the bay and back. The downwind was a scream. 49 kph on the Garmin (thanks again Bobson). Grrrreeeeat day. Elbow hate! :D again! Silky smooth, creamy wind. ZERO gusts. Light at first (maybe 12?), then gently rose like someone had a giant fan with a slow dial. Wound up to @17/18? at it's peak before dropping slightly. Awesome seeing Grant on his 8m kite and foil board. And King Thomas acting like an air puppy! That was easy wind, but damn fun too. Great 2 hour session and no traffic. Sweet! 8)

Tuesday. Caught the 6:30am from Horseshoe Bay right behind Roger Dee with his new Chalet Camper. Arrived at the lake at 10:30am. The wind was already up. Set up the tent. Rigged a 6.2 and 5.3 and hit the water at 12:30. At 1:00 I grabbed the Kombat 95 and 5.3 and was fully powered (46 kph!). Lots of wind. Like August! Getting hate from my elbow - more Ibupropen - can still feel the hate! Stayed on the 5.3 for 2.5 hours! Fantastic! Water is warm. No crap on the beach. Only 4 groups camping. Me ... (more)

:D SUPER is the key word! Super lifty (11/10), Super windy, Super warm, Super Kite. Went on the only kite I had - 14m Diablo at the peak wind of the day. 4:20 to 5:20, and Ogden says between 24-27 and 26-29. Add the lift to that! The wind was less below 15 feet and down, felt sorry for the windsurfers. Vadardog going huge on the 8m Diablo while Johny and I hung onto the 14's - these kites have RANGE! (Super Range, shall we say...). First time on this kite made me a little nervous, especially given the wind ... (more)

Would've been great with my 6.8......but it's at Bosun's getting fixed :x 5.4 just didn't cut it. I was able to plane in the gusts but the tide pushed me way downwind so I had some walking to do. I'm getting pretty frustrated with the conditions at Esquimalt. The steady SW is apparently a thing of the past. Cook St. is definitely becoming more appealing.

Wow! Wind turned on at Harrison at 2:00 pm. Got there at 3:00 to 14 knots or so. Guys on 7.7 and 8.0 were planing, but some holes in the middle so I rigged 8.5 and went out. Wind steadily increased to 18 - 20 by 4:30 or so. Could have been 7.0 but just pulled the 8.5 flatter. Couple of guys on 6.0 were going good. Super warm day. You can go fast on an 8.5 in 20 in the totally flat water behind the breakwater. 4 kites and 7 sailors out. Great day! Should blow there the rest of the week as well!

Well that was a series of stupid mistakes. Tried to get the 7.5 past the shore bubble to what looked like 12-14 knot wind on the outside. Walked to top end of beach where the wind is a little stronger, finally got a puff that got me past the kelp. Missed the gybe, then couldn't waterstart - even when after about 20 min the wind was up enough. Huge trouble clearing the sail, couldn't get the tack to clear even swimming as hard as I could into the wind. If I lifted the luff enough to get wind under, then ... (more)

:?: :?: :?: What is going on - I guess I shoulda checked the web for data on the system on the coast. Oh well, got to the lake to witness a strong outflow, HOT air, felt tropical in a 4/3 :). Rigged big, and sailed the lake backwards. Tacks into the fish farm felt wierd (as did the 6.0 conditions up there whilst holding up a 7.5). :D :D :D

I have this kite so dialed in now. I absolutely love it.

It was all (underpowered)ride and hike today, but I had a blast anyway.

It is so easy to walk upwind with these kites.

I think today was the first time,

I've had to walk back downwind to land my kite. :D

Better session than yesterday with solid ramps and perfect wind. You know the place is on when a girl sails past you on and bigger sail and busts a forward clean in front of you. Amazing day

Another great day at the beach! Smokin' hot. Broke the nose of my board, on one of my many catapults over the top. And did a stupid waterstart attempt upwind of Maria - where I just about clocked her. Way too cocky. Won't be starting upwind of anyone for a while, I hope. Spent the next week doing board repair.
