Checked Agate - figured not quite enough for planing. Went to Cattle and saw Kus pump to a plane, figured my sail's bigger than his sail, got planing and in straps part of almost every run, so no skunk. Wooda been better earlier. Kus suckered me out for a 2nd session as wind-dummy, then buggered off before I could cadge a beer.

Replay yesterday, once rigged it died off 5kn :x stood on beach wondering if it was worth it...it was because of amazing views & beer in sun, odd water start & planing run, million mast uphauls, practicing seated  low-wind waterstarts @ sailfoot, heli tacks & monkey/downwind 360 attempts; MF4 showed & got rides even tho wind down more when funeral happened  waited out ashes spreading & service b4 coming in but heli-ed through drifting white :?

Launched 3:30pm at the east boat ramp at Cattle point. Tide was ebbing strong and wind was marginal at first so I stayed out of the current and stuck to the mouth of Caddy Bay. Gusts started coming with more frequency and stronger later. So I was able to venture a little further away. Lots of boats out.

I thought it would be too offshore but instead it was the first Piper's norwester of the summer. The wind shadow is a little annoying but it was steady planing beyond the channel marker. Mostly cruising, tried some tricks ... my freestyle abilities are pretty dismal  . Beauty day and amazing scenery with snow covered Coast Mountains in background and lots of potential webcam hosts in the foreground  .

Got to Cattle Pt thinking "holy, it's windy"(~22), rigged 5.8 playing w/ Morewind's lacing bit (error#1) & got Jesus out, by time finally hit H2O barely planing, BWD shows & Morley reports IV up, we're off to Agate (error#2 leaving wind) Instant replay there, from 5.0 to kiting weather (strangely didn't have it along  error#3, teased 2 hrs). Planed both places but not for very long, a downwind standing 360 in the sun was the highlight.

Wind was on off gusty and slightly offshore (too much W). Did a downwinder. Only great thing was how much smoother the water is compared to the gnarly SE chop. Still totally loving the diablo kite ... :?

sort of missed the show. there was some joy in sneaking in 1/2 hr of ripping before the wind died :) . Played head-on tack dual with Mr Cannonball JR, aka the terrorist kiter. Ross riding a 12m one kite in the light winds was impressive. The pull of the dark side was particularly strong today.

Kook is definitely due for some of those legendary all-day 4.7 blows. Bring it on :!:

A frustrating sail for me. Wind was howling and I was overpowered. I had neoprene gloves on and was having a terrible time holding onto the boom. My forearms were aching. I felt terribly out of shape and could barely hold the sail up. In the end, I looped my arm through the boom and held it on the inside of my elbow. Waterstarting was a problem - kept getting pulled over to the other side. Had to constantly reorganize the gear in the water. Terrible day for the confidence. [DWD told me later that it was the ... Very shallow on the sandbar...kept bracing for a hit every time I sailed over it. A great day to practice the spinny tricks. The board/sail combo seems to plane in about 14kts or so 8)

OMG I'm beat. Fun day at CB in the cold and rain. Up and down but 5.0 worked the whole time. Mega low tide and so-so swell made for less than classic wave riding but I nailed a couple of lips. Couldn't get a backie around to save my life - 15 or so back-drops, and no forwards.

Nicest session this year so far. First full on since my back ingury. Yeahhhhhaaaa :D Jumping , switch stancing, duck jibing. Saweeeeet! I want more! Doc let me use his custom Wind Obsession and now I know Doc's secret  But I won't tell anyone.... oh well... may be for a smal fee  This board flies pretty good, quick on a plane, nice and sweet. Thank, Chris!

Nice, mostly powered. I had a commitment(for which I should be committed) in Vic,so chose Willows over IV-bad choice. Fun in the cold sun. IV morning sesh, afternoon Willows sesh. What I mean is that I enjoyed Willows, but reading the pm posts for IV, it looks like they scored big.

IV at its best :D :D :D Flood tide brought smooth, steep, slashable faces to middles. lines of waves at times. No sticks, no weeds, no shorebreak :!: BWD and Geoff both looking particularly mean in the waves. IV has ruled this winter. I've had luck there like never before. Of course, saying that is a guaranteed curse for next year.
