Barely planing some of the time for the first hour, better after I let downhaul off so much the battens were sticking in front of the mast ("your sail should NEVER look like this") and got planing consistently, another 1/2 hour and it kicked up a notch. Added downhaul, planed instantly some times. Made a few missionary gybes, one fast carve/kinda slam gybe on the inside. WARM and AFTER WORK!!!    Spring is really and truly here! Good turnout of sails and kites.

:D A nice formula experience. Some sun, a few friendly seals and in general, not the "forcast" winds but still OK on big gear. Top speed 45 kmh. We also experienced the wind shifts in the afternoon, making it a challenge to reach home directly with a slightly offshore wind. Did I mention that it was the first day with a 3/2 wetsuit - spring has sprung... :D :D :D

    Meh.

Steph (Qi-Wiz) finally got her CB experience, albeit in lightish wind. Maybe our last CB session of the year? Mike and Dave were cranking some nice UW 360s, and Dave had Port boomerangs levitating nicely back to his hands. Phatbuddha and RD smelled skunk and left.

    Bring on the Westerlies.

Was hoping for 20-30 but this was ok too. Fun to get out on the 'big' gear again. The wind was up and down all day. Wierd side-off wind direction at the end - filled in wind near shore and glassy on the outside. Hopefully not the last CB day of the season :o

A little light but enjoyable. Took the skim out at the end, Finally its best ridden strapless and without fins.

The Diablo 14m really rocks. Stable, good low end, great top end, great lift and hang time, perfect bar pressure. Best C kite I've ever owned.

Oh and the ski googles with Rainx work great. I can fit my glasses inside them, so no need for prescription sunglasses/goggles. I rainxed my glasses too and visibility was all fine, no salt staining.

A great early season Gordo's session with friends.

The odd sweet steep two foot ramp near shore made for fun ramps for backs and forwards. Learned a new thing for forwards. Sliding both hands back on the boom makes the rotation faster and easier.

Wingnut ripping and RG, BWD, MW all having a fun session breaking out the freestyle flava.

I love these kinds of sessions that really show you how much fun you can have on a windsurfer.

Gordo's magic comes a month early :D Went out figuring big board/big sail, but got dealt a sweet 20-25. Great fun trying to refresh some old-school freestyle moves. Incredible sky at end of the day. As Bobson says, life is great  Good early season turnout: BWD-vulcan-dude, Wingnut-sailing-at-mach-speed-dood, Russian-dood. WindDoc threw hate that had built up during the working day. PastaDood roared out for a session too. And Martin was right, it was cold. gloves for me.

:D :D :D YAHOOOO!!!! Rigged up at Ross Bay at 1pm, waited until 2 until I headed out. Perfect, filled in nicely and ripped up to Kook St. and played with the kiters for awhile until ripping back downwind to Ross Bay. Covered 41kms altogether and max speed of 44.7km/h.

Amazing sunshine and wind. Packed up and went up to Kook to see who was there and saw Kus and MF4 out ripping as well. It was 20kts ish.

Too much fun.....It's such a nice change to come in after the session without frozen hands....NICE ... (more)

Super punchy gusts that throw your confidence off. I hung on thru two storm bursts and got lofted over the water then decided that was plenty. The rain was almost hail and air was cold. Some fun jumps but pretty tame overall.

Mega gusty but still fun. Being sunny and warm didn't hurt either. Way OP on the 5.8 a bunch of times then zero - what a workout. Got blown off the water at one point and went in to rig 5.0 but it didn't last long enough for me to take the sail out of the bag. Sat on the beach for 20 minutes while a big scary black cloud went over. Mostly fast tacks (the big board is sooo forgiving) and missionary gybes (lifetime project) but did one sweet upwind 360, heavy on the beginners luck and not likely to happen aga ... (more)
