What a day on the water. Tons of steady wind to try and nail down planning on the new board, even try some jibes. Well... at least the waterstart is a guarantee on the new board now. The 5.0 felt like it had tons of power, probably due to the nice high wind and smaller board. I know for a fact the cheering and wooing from Bobson, Mike and Corrin helped lol. Met lots of new faces, got lots of advice and tips. On the water there was lots of windsurfers, some wingers and 2 kiters?? Man I can only imagine what ... (more)

Watched Gus - he is a patient winger! Walked the beach waiting for gus to pop up. Rigged big wing/foil little board with straps today. First try at jumping. More wind will help the frequent restarts! The 1010 is ridiculous how slow it can go! Wind dropped to beer-force.

Got out around noon on the 3 m and HA925. Saw Bobson ripping around but only a handful of sailors out (ie. maybe 5?). Finding tacking harder in stronger winds/small wing but just haven't tried enough. Had to go to work on the wifi in the afternoon. Back on the 4 m later, but it lightened up a bit around 6 pm, so took out the bigger board / wing / foil for an early evening session.

Overall a fun session mainly with CB then being joined by Greg and Divo. Nice way to end the busy work week.

The wind built nicely as I rigged, all the way to the point where I down shifted to an 8m kite. Unfortunately, as soon as I made my way to the water the wind dropped to barely enough and it looked like doom. Luckily it was brief, the wind returned and the rest was magic. Full moon, whales, J dog, Greg and Divo all sharing the waves. Good evening all around.

Took advantage of an afternoon thermal outflow in Saanich Inlet. Put in at Mill Bay Rd near Rock Point. Consistent 14kts with just enough swell to assist the jibes. Nicely powered on the Cab 6.2 for the duration. Worked on weak toeside jibes.,needs work, still no progress on tacking :/

I checked out Agate with MtnarG and Greg after some promising reports. Sadly, the winds diminished and the only flying I did was with my drone to film MtnarG and Greg slogging it. I moved over to check out Willows on my way home, and, bonus! Paul was getting some flights in the bay. I got 30min worth of foiling before heading home to cook supper and avoid divorce. Arrived to flat water and steady light wind. 8m with the small foil was perfect. Came in for a break and the wind died. Watched everyone come back to the beach. Hung around for a bit. Switched to the big foil and went back out in very light wind with a bunch of others. Slogged around until the wind picked up a couple of knots and had a really nice flat water sunset session. Too much on the outside so played in close where it was nice and flat and I felt perfectly powered. A pod of orcas and whale watching boats cruised slowly by just before sunset. The wind started to pick up even more as the sun dipped so I switched to the twin tip and grabbed another 45 minutes in the water during twilight.

Conditions were good enough to start with a 4m but dropped off, much like yesterday. This time I had the 5m ready, switched fast and shipped back out. Ryan gave me a much needed correction on stance in my tack which was a breakthrough. Spent much of my time in the dip trying to figure out toe side stance. Thank you R! Conditions started to peter out a bit so it was time to pack it in although it was working for peeps who were right out on tip of clover.

Fantastic foil day sharing the swells with Idefix, Gustastic, and another foiler that was getting some amazing air time! Easy getting up with 6mX3, great for my meagre skills to get through the bigger swells. Got lucky and was able to somewhat unlock foiling the swells with grace! More time in the moguls building more and more confidence for the turbulent stuff. Winds eased off in mid afternoon and my aging bod told me it was time to call it a day. But, what a day!

Wind was.light near the beach, but fine once near where the kelp grows. Had good long rides, usually ending in a nose dive. Sigh.

Decided to end the session when I nearly collided with a sea lion. Or some big brown thing with lots of fins and going fast.

Coming from 6 days in a row kitefoiling and my body can feel it (good problem to have), was a little sluggish today and kept making silly mistakes. Started on the Ross Bay side and when making my transit over to Cook St nailed the kelp beds right off Clover point, took me a while to break free but managed to get going again and found some nice swell around Cook St. Another fun day and always nice to be in the sun.

Third evening session in a row! This one was the best of the three. Great swell up at clover, waves had some shape to them finally. Nice to refocus on some swell riding again after a few sessions working on jumping. John A, Shaggy, Roy, JJ, GottaWantIt, Tweezer, DaBaker, and a few others I didnt recognize all enjoying the great conditions. Looks like lots more wind in the forecast.

Another great sesh! Waves off Clover were super fun. After 3 in a row felt dialled in until I got tired and and started falling a lot. Didn't use my blown out 5 but pumped it up and left it on the beach. Then when I came in, to my disappointment, it was still there! Maybe next time.
