:) Finally a sunny warm day. Was blowing 25-30 when I was rigging but backed off by the time I got to the beach. Big shore break with little beach exposed. It looked good when I launched but there wasn't enough to plane very fast and the flood tide carried me downwind quite a bit, so I came in and waited for it to fill in. ULR showed up and soon the wind was up again. The shore break was almost head high in places! Not epic Cook St. but fun.

wind was light at first, headed across towards james island wind lightened even more, giving me a bit of a scare, headed back and stayed inside the spit - wind picked up, good session on the 12 until it became too much. Then went out on the 5 a little later, well powered up, but sadly the velcro on my chicken loop gave out... as described in my other post. I had tightened it right before going out too, because I was aware of that issue under heavier wind conditions. Should have just duct taped off the whole ... (more)

I brought a 430 instead of a 400 so couldn't rig the 5.0. Had to pack it in just when it blew big!!! :x :x :x The new booties are nice and warm though!

what a fun day! dumass rigged the 5.0, good for 1 run then the serious sabotage got going. tried some fwds and backs but mainly just tried to keep the board on the water and rip some waves. i think i finally threw some legit cutback spray today. Total inspiration from the crew of hardcores out there, the biggest crowd ive seen all winter. didnt realize untill the drive home that stinging rain was actually wet snow out there! Once again i made the right call not to go south - you guys get too much wind do ... (more)

WOW what an epic day. Got there at noon and it was just starting to fill in. Went out on the 4.5 and it was up and down for about a 1/2 hr. Then, within about a minute, the wind came up to 30-40 knots in a big hate filled puff. After that it was 4.0 with big swell. Great for rides and jumping. Didn't feel the cold but since it was snowing on the way home it must of been chilly. Good turnout.

Lightish 5.0 on the big board at first with Morewind. Wind picked up soon after a short break on the beach. Wham! 4.0 conditions. Swell was excellent for riding and jumping. Hit many ramps for backs and forwards, but kept splatting on my forwards - not used to the rotation of a 4.0. Better loops later on. Got my first shuvit/backside aerials today. Tried out Da Kine mitts for the first time. They are DA BOMB!! So warm, easy to grip, low fatigue factor. If your hands get cold sailing, buy these mitts now!! ... (more)

Wanted to check Clover early  not early enough, no beach & wind building, it was HUGE doods, looked just big from parking lot, once out there houses seemed to be going by :? Perfect example of poor sailing due to anxiety, massive sealion surfing didn't keep stoke going nor did waning beach emergency landing areas. Went in after blowing most gybes, playing over/under game on the flat 4.2, gusty & knarly waves, what an experience, next time :!:

DWD and I drove up together in the white loaf around noon. Slushing on the way up, so we knew it would be a cold one. Wind ramped up the whole way there. When we got there WDOC was out on a 5.o and big board and it was a bit flukey. Waited it out and it came on full blast about 1:00. 4,2 with a good crew for a few crazy hours. Some wicked waves today. DWD hucked a nasty fwd in my direction which got my stoke turned up a few degrees. Savage screaming fingers to the point of nausea when I finally call ... (more)

Rushed around trying to get my kit together after work and an appointment. Just enough time for about an hour of good light. Markus already out on 4.8 and his Jesus stick. Seemed windier. It was. Many sphincter tightening runs as I was just missing the forest of logs strewn in my path. Had multiple jumps only to look down on a nice deadhead grinning up at me. Managed to avoid all of the logs and sticks somehow. Worst day for wood I've seen. High fibre sailing. Had one splatty forward off of a meagre little ... (more)

Ruskie's HyFly on test - I was impressed, it is only rated for 6.8 but I thought it handled 7.5 easily. Planed up very easily, so-so at coasting through the lulls - but seeing the kites were only just in the air, not bad at all. Made a few dry gybes, had to wait 5 min for a puff to waterstart last run. Came in and de-rigged, the wind filled in nicely at steady 15 from S. Broke a batten in shorebreak or I would have gone out again. Ribs pretty sore when bumped, but avoided falling on them!

Whimped out on an early 35 knot session. Returned to watch deisel Mike slicing & dicing the 4' wave on his 9m...Sweet wave rides Mike, with the odd bounce off his back. I digress. Grant went out on his 8m & I followed on my 9. Grant had an expression session while I merely sailed downwind & bailed in the gusty wind...Punched out in the shore break...The new 5mm booties were cozy.
